Patent number: 5578135Abstract: A process for stripping of used parts or reject parts, in particular of polycarbonate (PC) or of a polycarbonate blend, preferably with polybutylene terephthalate (PBT/PC), for the purpose of recycling the plastic. In this process the plastics parts are first mechanically comminuted to a pourable size and then are circulated together with anhydrous alkalified diethylene glycol or propylene glycol in a mass with mutual abrasion of the plastics chips at elevated temperatures of at least 50.degree. C., preferably from 80.degree. to 100.degree. C., until complete removal of the paint. Thereafter the stripped plastics chips are separated from the stripping agent, flushed and then dried. The quantity of glycol added corresponds to from 1 to 10% of the volume of the mass to be treated, so that the circulated parts are only wetted by the glycol, but with stripping agent being circulated continuously through the treatment space of the mass from a relatively large reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1994Date of Patent: November 26, 1996Assignee: Daimler-BenzInventors: Karsten Lohr, Bernd-Uwe Kettemann, Jorg Zurn, Michele Melchiorre

Patent number: 5208099Abstract: A process for impregnating porous carbon bodies, in particular carbon fiber-reinforced carbon bodies, protects against oxidation by atmospheric oxygen. The open pores present in the carbon body are lined both in the interior and on the surfaces with a low viscosity gel and/or sol, formed from refractory and/or non-combustible inorganic compounds, as antioxidants. The antioxidant applied has a layer thickness of about 1 micrometer and is highly elastic. It adapts very well to the thermal expansions of the carbon body and is resistant to heat up to above 1000.degree. C.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1992Date of Patent: May 4, 1993Assignee: Daimler-BenzInventors: Ines Maiwald-Hiller, Karen B. Riedl, Jorg Arndt

Patent number: 5024056Abstract: In a brake apparatus for a hydraulic two-circuit brake installation of a road vehicle with static brake circuits, an outlet pressure space is provided for one of these brake circuits in which the brake pressure that is coupled into a static brake circuit of the vehicle, is adapted to be built up by the displacement in the same direction of a master cylinder piston which is also displaceable by the pedal force alone, and of a servo piston which is displaceable only when the brake force servo unit is intact.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1988Date of Patent: June 18, 1991Assignee: Daimler-BenzInventor: Milorad Zivkovic

Patent number: 5007761Abstract: A seal arrangement for connecting two seals in a fluid-tight and mechanically robust connection without vulcanization or adhesive bonding. The seal connector is provided with a sleeve-shaped receiver on one end of one seal for receiving an end of the other seal. The two seals are further releasably connected to one another by a lug on the connector which fits around the other seal.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1989Date of Patent: April 16, 1991Assignee: Daimler-BenzInventors: Dietrich Wulff, Hans-Ludwig Jager, Joachim Weisse

Patent number: 4991696Abstract: A brake shoe adjustment device for internally mounted shoe brakes is arranged between mutually neighboring ends of two brake shoes which are connected to each other via a tension spring. To minimize parts, size and cost the adjustment device has two mutually opposite spreading elements, each of which is held by one brake shoe end. One of the elements is equipped with a threaded shank that cooperates with a threaded bore of the other element. The elements are axially displaceable by a worm wheel gear which rotates the shank in response to turning by an adjusting tool.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1989Date of Patent: February 12, 1991Assignee: Daimler-BenzInventors: Manfred Minning, Thomas Muller

Patent number: 4971376Abstract: A bumper for vehicles, with a symmetrically backswept rail, is supported on a skeleton member of the vehicle body via shock absorbing arrangement. To simplify the construction by use of so called foam systems, and at the same time ensuring a high system efficiency, the shock absorbing arrangement is formed by an impact damper extending over the rail length and made of energy absorbing (EA) foam. Arranged in the midle of the bumper is a regenerable shock absorber which works on the positive displacement principle, passes through local clearances in an impact damper and in the rail and is supported on the skeleton member and on a trim shell engaging at a distance round the rail. An impact strip made of EA foam is inserted between the trim shell and the rail.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1989Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: Daimler-BenzInventors: Konrad Eipper, Wolfgang Fischer

Patent number: 4904225Abstract: Flywheel elements are coupled by a spring arrangement having an intermediate support which is connected resiliently to one flywheel element by long-stroke arcuate helicoidal springs and to the other flywheel element through short-stroke springs. A stop spring device becomes operative between the intermediate support and the one flywheel element in the case of major relative rotations. Additionally or alternatively, a slip coupling which exhibits play may also be arranged. At higher speeds, the long-stroke springs abut bearing surfaces. The friction thereby caused produces a stiffening of the long stroke springs. The mobility of the flywheel elements relative to each other therefore increases with decreasing speed.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1988Date of Patent: February 27, 1990Assignee: Daimler-BenzInventors: Gunter Worner, Ernst Tscheplak

Patent number: 4697843Abstract: In an anti-glare device for motor vehicles, a sun visor, which is arranged on the under-side of the front hollow transverse roof beam, can be displaced from a basic position, in which the sun visor is located approximately beneath the transverse roof beam, into an extended position, in which the sun visor projects into the region of the windscreen. In order to displace the sun visor a guide linkage is provided, which influences the sliding path of the sun visor and which is fastened within the cavity of the transverse roof beam. A drive means is further provided within the cavity of the transverse roof beam, which adjusts the sun visor by a corresponding control via the guide linkage or a displacing lever. By virtue of the described anti-glare device, an infinite and automatic adjustment of the sun visor is possible, by means of a switch fitted to the steering wheel, for example.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1986Date of Patent: October 6, 1987Assignee: Daimler-BenzInventor: Johann Tomforde

Patent number: 4594746Abstract: A windshield wiper unit has a slide which is supported so as to be movable in a longitudinal direction in a housing which is driven to and fro, and a wiper arm which is fastened with a fastening part to an end section of the slide. A low overall height is achieved by the fastening part having a recess with which it is placed on the end section of the slide in the longitudinal direction of the slide and by the end section being jammed in the recess.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1984Date of Patent: June 17, 1986Assignees: SWF Auto-Electric GmbH, Daimler-BenzInventors: Kurt Bauer, Reinhard Edele, Bruno Egner-Walter, John M. Patent number: 4559663Abstract: A low overall height is provided in a wiper-arm assembly with a wiper arm which has a fastening part, a link part which is swivelably linked to the fastening part and two side walls and a back connecting the two side walls, and a contact pressure spring which is accommodated in the link part and acts on the link part and the fastening part, and also with a wiper blade linked to the wiper arm, which blade lies at least partly in line with the link part. The low height is achieved by making the clearance between the contact pressure spring and the one side wall of the link part greater than the width of the wiper blade in the area of the link part and by the wiper blade being swivelable into the link part alongside the contact pressure spring.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1984Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Assignees: SWF Auto-Electric GmbH, Daimler-BenzInventors: Kurt Bauer, Reinhard Edele, Anton Epple, Hans Trube, Martin Pfeiffer, Josef Berger
