Patents Assigned to Daimler-Benz
  • Patent number: 6043567
Abstract: A new vehicle electrical system has a first lower voltage level and a second higher voltage level. The new vehicle electrical system comprises an ignition switch, a generator having an exciter circuit and a voltage controller, and a multi-chopper having several chopper stages. The voltage controller supplies energy to the exciter circuit via the ignition switch in order to adjust the first lower voltage level to a rated level of U1. The multi-chopper is connected between the battery and the generator, thereby adjusting the second higher voltage level to a rated level of U2 based on the number of chopper stages and their actuation.

  • Patent number: 6038981
Abstract: A two-wheeled running gear for a track-guided vehicle comprising a running gear frame; a wheel carrier; first and second wheels coupled to opposite sides of the wheel carrier; first and second vertical pivot pins, the first vertical pivot pin coupled to the first side of the wheel carrier and movably connected to the first side of the running gear frame, the second vertical pivot pin coupled to the second side of the wheel carrier and movably connected to the second side of the running gear frame, the first and second wheels located between the first and second vertical pins; and means for controlling a movement of the first pivot pin relative to the running gear frame such that, during a curved track drive, the first pivot pin can be held substantially in place relative to the running gear frame while the second pivot pin can move relative to the running gear frame so that the line connecting the centers of the wheels is maintained substantially parallel to the radius of curvature of the track.

  • Patent number: 6038527
Abstract: The proposed method for generating descriptors for the classification of texts provides a breakdown of more complex word forms by way of matching with the entirety of word forms occurring within a compilation of training texts. No morphological or linguistic knowledge base is necessary for the preferably cyclically continued breakdown, nor for the accompanying drawing up of stop word prefix and suffix lists. Simple morphological knowledge is provided by prescribing minimum requirements with respect to the form of descriptors and text sections. The method is particularly flexible and can be easily adapted to new applications. The method is also very error-tolerant and thus particularly suited for the classification of digitized texts which are produced from written texts by means of character recognition methods or from spoken texts by means of language recognition methods.

  • Patent number: 6029792
Abstract: A friction clutch whereby the operating force characteristic is made largely independent of the wear of the clutch disk. The friction clutch is characterized in that in the engaged position of the clutch, the initial position of a clutch plate corresponding to an initial thickness of the clutch disk corresponds to a stop position of a spring in the direction of a displacement of a pressure plate against the clutch disk, from which the spring produces the superimposed elastic force when the pressure plate is displaced in the direction of clutch disk.

  • Patent number: 6022505
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a ceramic metal composite body in the case of which a dimensionally stable and porous sacrificial body is produced from ceramic initial products and is filled at a filling temperature with a softened metal, particularly under an increased pressure. The filled sacrificial body is heated to a reaction temperature and the metal to be filled in, BMe, is reacted with a metal of the ceramics. KMe, forming the ceramic metal composite body which has a ceramic phase having KMe.sub.m B.sub.x and/or KMe.sub.n C.sub.y and/or KMe.sub.o CN and BMe.sub.p O.sub.3 and has a metallic phase having an intermetallic compound which is formed of KMe and BMe, the filling temperature being lower than the reaction temperature and higher than or equal to the softening temperature of the metal.

  • Patent number: 6023677
Abstract: In a speech recognition method for word sequences that are combined in sentences with defined syntax, syntax information is integrated into a speech model so as to unambiguously identify recurring words through indexing. As a result, the recognition process can be carried out in a manner similar to the situation without integration of the syntax information.

  • Patent number: 6020217
Abstract: The invention relates to a semiconductor device which includes a packaged electrical component such as an IC chip, wherein terminal posts are realized within the chip area without additional wafer surface being required beyond the chip edge. A direct feedthrough of the individual electrical connections by way of downwardly extending terminal posts that are connected to bonding pads at the top of the chip results in a small lead length and thus lesser parasitic influences, which in turn results in optimum conditions for use at super-high frequencies. Furthermore, a process for making the semiconductor device offers the option of forming deep vertical trenches on the chip edge and to thus implement separation etching for dicing. During this process, the coverage of the side surface with encapsulating material effects a passivation on the chip edge without further outlay. Expensive rewiring of the connections on the bottom side of the chip is not necessarily due to the terminal posts.

  • Patent number: 6020081
Abstract: This invention relates to a polymerizable phosphazene derivative with a general structural formula.brket open-st.NP(A).sub.a (B).sub.b).brket close-st..sub.xwherein the groups A and B are bonded to phosphorus atoms through --O--, --S--, --NH--, or --NR-- (with R=C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl), and wherein A stands more precisely for a vinyl ether group or a styrene ether group, and B stands more precisely for a hydrocarbon group. The invention also relates to procedures for synthesizing such phosphazene derivatives. The phosphazenes derivatives of the invention can be cured by a process that is initiated cationically, which leads to a large number of advantages. The phosphazene derivatives of the invention can, in particular, be used as curable binders for paints, coatings, fillers, mastics, adhesives, moldings, or films. Paints or coatings comprising the phosphazene derivatives of the invention show especially high mechanical resistance and scratch resistance.

  • Patent number: 6020714
Abstract: In the case of a control system (140) for a drive having an asynchronous motor, in particular for a railroad vehicle, which control system (140) comprises a first control loop (141) for motor control, and a second control loop (142) which is connected to the first control loop (141) and has an adhesion controller (125), an improved control response is obtained in that the motor control system is designed as a stator frequency control system (127), and in that an actual torque value (M.sub.act) for the asynchronous motor is derived within the motor control system, and in that the two control loops (141, 142) are connected to one another in such a manner that the actual torque value (M.sub.act) from the motor control system is used as the actual value for the adhesion controller (125), and in that the adhesion controller (125) presets a nominal stator frequency value (f.sub.s,nom) for the motor control system.

  • Patent number: 6015981
Abstract: The invention concerns heterostructure field effect transistors (HFET's) with high charge carrier concentration in the two-dimensional charge-carrier gas. The n-HFET of the heterostructure layer sequence contains several zones with formed 2DEG while the p-HFET contains several zones with formed 2DHG, which can be gate-controlled with a transistor gate, without mutually screening each other. At the same time, more charge carriers n.sub.s with high mobility are available through several channels. Higher transconductances for transistors are obtained with this, resulting in the promise of shorter switching times, especially for integrated circuits. In addition, other characteristics that are critical for the high-frequency technology, such as transit frequency and maximum operating frequency, can also be increased.

  • Patent number: 6004520
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for operating a purification device, to a purification device and to the use of same. To reduce the emission of pollutants, a filter body through which a fluid can flow and comprising a catalyst, is exposed to a stream of gas which is to be purified. Before the gas enters the catalyst, a reducing agent is added in the flow direction of the gas, and after a certain treatment point, during which the gas, which is to be purified, is flowing in the catalyst, reducing agent is added once more to the flowing gas by a feeding mechanism and contact with the catalyst is maintained.
