Abstract: In a method for controlling the operation of a reversible belt retractor to release a belt extraction lock of a restraint belt in a motor vehicle, the lock can be activated by an acceleration sensor. After the belt retractor has been triggered as a consequence of a hazardous situation having been detected and after the hazardous situation has been recognized as being over, the operation of the belt retractor is controlled by a release signal at a release time in order to bring about the release of the belt extraction lock to shift it from a blocking state into a comfort-providing state. The release time is determined by a sensor model algorithm based on a model of the acceleration sensor from at least one variable characterizing the running dynamics.

Abstract: In a process for chip-forming machining of thermally sprayed cylinder barrels of a cylinder crankcase, a cylinder crankcase is cast, those surfaces of the subsequent cylinder barrels which are to be thermally coated are roughened, the cylinder barrels are coated by a thermal spraying process, and the cylinder barrels are remachined to final dimensions. Machining of an insertion bevel and/or an end bevel and/or the cylinder head sealing surface and/or the crankshaft space and/or a cylinder bore is carried out in a chip-forming manner, and a respective chip-forming tool is guided so that the respective cutting edges penetrate into the material which is to be removed from the outside.

Abstract: An exhaust-gas purification system and method are provided for an internal combustion engine having an NOx storage catalytic converter and a downstream SCR catalytic converter. The NOx storage catalytic converter can be supplied in a first operating mode with an oxidizing exhaust gas and in a second operating mode with a reducing exhaust gas. A third operating mode is provided between the first operating mode and the second operating mode, in which an exhaust gas which has a lower content of oxidizing constituents than the first operating mode and a lower content of reducing constituents than the second operating mode can be supplied to the NOx storage catalytic converter to improve NH3 production at the start of converter regeneration.
Abstract: The opening of vehicle doors often leads to collisions with stationary obstacles that are not visible to the occupants or with moving obstacles that approach the vehicle without being noticed. Thus to avoid collisions when vehicle doors are opened, the aim of the invention is to take any modifications to the environmental situation of the vehicle as a result of a movement of the vehicle and the detected objects into consideration. This allows a collision of the vehicle doors with the objects to be reliably avoided. To achieve this, in a first step the probable trajectory of a vehicle is determined. In an additional step, the objects in the vicinity of the vehicle are detected and probable trajectories of said detected objects are determined. Respective probability ranges are then defined both for the vehicle and the pivoting zone of the vehicle doors and for the detected objects.

Abstract: A seatbelt lock includes a preventive tensioning device which moves a seatbelt lock from an operating position into a lowered safety position with respect to the operating position, an energy accumulator, and a drive unit. The seatbelt lock is maintained preloaded in an operating position by means of the energy accumulator, and the drive unit transfers the seatbelt lock from the safety position back into the operating position.

Abstract: In a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine which has an automatic start/stop device, and a controllable brake device at the start of and during an automatic stop phase, the effect of a braking torque which is greater than a threshold value is ensured. For this purpose, the brake device can increase the braking torque. The threshold value is previously calculated in such a way that the motor vehicle is reliably prevented from rolling away. As a result, the internal combustion engine can be stopped frequently, and at the same time unintentional rolling away of the motor vehicle during the stop phase can be avoided.

Abstract: A planar heating element for a motor vehicle seat includes a plurality of heating conductors connected to at least one electrical contact conductor strip, which is to be joined to a power source. The contact conductor strip itself comprises an electrically conductive, nonwoven textile fabric.
Abstract: A vehicle independent suspension for a double-wishbone high link axle has on each wheel side, a wheel carrier which is mounted by at least one lower link and at least one upper link in the form of a transverse or diagonal link, on an assembly frame that is fastened to the vehicle frame. The assembly frame comprises two longitudinal members and two cross members that are fixedly connected in a force-fitting or materially joined fashion to the longitudinal members. The rear cross member is extended upward forming a link carrier for the upper link or mounting the link carrier in a dimensionally rigid manner by a support element. For each longitudinal member, a further link carrier for the upper link is arranged between the cross members; and said further link carrier engages in each case around the closest longitudinal member in a form-fitting or force-fitting or materially joined fashion.
Abstract: In a camshaft adjuster for an internal combustion engine including a housing, with two side cover sections and a middle jacket section arranged between the side cover sections and a rotor disposed in the housing, the jacket section is formed by a cross-cut profile section drawn from a tube in the form of a semi-finished product.
Abstract: A vehicle seat has a backrest with a vertically adjustable headrest, and a device for warming the nape and head area of a seat occupant with warm air. The device comprises an electric heating unit and an air vent which is arranged in an intermediate space between the backrest and head cushion of the headrest. In order to obtain a warm air heating device which i) is of low overall volume, ii) can be integrated satisfactorily into the seat, iii) is efficient and iv) does not disrupt the esthetics of the vehicle seat and/or of the passenger cell, the electric heating unit, and preferably also a blower, are integrated in the air vent.
Abstract: A moisture exchange module includes a bundle of moisture-permeable hollow fiber membranes. It is provided with a feedline for supplying a gas stream that flows through the hollow fiber membranes in an inner flow. According to the present invention, a separating device for separating out liquid particles from the gas flow are provided in the region between the feedline and the bundle of hollow fiber membranes. The separating device may have the form of a groove and are arranged in such a way that the gas flow is guided in such a manner that the centrifugal force assists movement of the liquid particles towards the separating device. The moisture exchange module preferably forms part of a fuel cell system to humidify feed air for the fuel cell system.
