Abstract: A receiving unit for a controller for reception of input data is disclosed. The input data is transmitted as optical signals in an optical bus system in a vehicle. The receiving unit is coupled to an optical bus system and has a means for conversion of optical signals to electrical signals. A measurement arrangement is provided which measures a characteristic variable for the optical received power. The receiving unit optimizes the dynamic control of the optical level. The measurement arrangement is in the form of a digital circuit. Furthermore, an output port is provided for passing on the digitized measurement data.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automated application of paint film to bodywork parts (1) and to a paint film composite (5) which is suitable for automation. A paint film composite (5) which is suitable for automation is created and adhesively bonded onto the bodywork part (1) in an accurate position and without any bubbles or creases by means of a robot-controlled application tool that is appropriate for this purpose. To securely hold the film composite (5), which has been picked up from a substrate, the suction grippers (30, 31) which grip the ends are angled in mirror-image form, in order in this way to prevent the ends from becoming detached from the suction grippers. The lower protective strip (9) is then at least partially pulled off, thus exposing the adhesive face of the useful part (6) of the paint film. The film composite (5) is aligned in the correct orientation at a short distance from the bodywork part (1) and the useful part (6) of the paint film is wiped onto the bodywork surface (1).
Abstract: A passenger vehicle restraint system that is capable of being placed in different positions, consisting of an interior defined by a housing and at least one airbag, at least one gas generator for delivering gas to the interior in order to inflate the airbag, at least one controllable outlet provided on the housing which may be closed by a closing element, such that an internal pressure in the interior may be adjusted according to parameters relevant to passenger load during an accident. A restraint system, which is easy to construct and can be manufactured cost-effectively, is provided by an adjustable stop element limiting the opening movement of the closing element, which is coupled to the vehicle seat such that the stop element is displaced according to parameters relevant to passenger load, in order to adjust the outlet cross section defined by the closing element located in its closed position.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cooling system in which the fan output is determined by an output control from the characteristic curves of the fan motor, the operating parameters of the cooling system and the reference input variables predetermined in the form of temperature levels. Different characteristic curves for the activation of the fan motor are here assigned to the different set temperature levels. If the reference input variable for the control changes, this also results in a change of the characteristic curves for activation of the fan motor. In order to prevent the fan motor starting to howl, in the event of a change in the reference input variable for the fan control the operation of the fan motor is kept constant for an adjustable minimum waiting time.

Abstract: An apparatus for humidifying a gas stream includes a humidifier device having at least one membrane permeable to water vapor. The gas stream and a humid gas stream flow through a humidifier device, being separated from one another by the at least one membrane. The apparatus includes at least one bypass line configured to route at least part of one of the gas stream and the humid gas stream so that it does not come into contact with the membrane. In addition a method for humidifying a gas stream, includes flowing the gas stream through a humidifier having a membrane permeable to water vapor, flowing a humid gas stream through the humidifier separated by the membrane, and routing at least a portion of one of the gas stream and the humid gas stream using a bypass line so that it does not come into contact with the membrane, and varying a quantity of the portion so as to set a predetermined dew point in the gas stream.

Abstract: A front frame structure of a truck with upper longitudinal members and with lower longitudinal member elements which are connected to one another via vertical frame struts is provided. Abstract: A drive system for an electrical machine is provided. The system includes a control unit and a monitoring unit, which is independent of the control unit. Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for switching on and off the internal combustion engine which drives a vehicle by way of a manual transmission. The manual transmission is associated with a clutch for producing and releasing the frictional connection between the internal combustion engine and drive train. The clutch has a clutch operator for producing and releasing the frictional connection to the drive train. The clutch is actuable by a driver by way of a clutch pedal. A variable representing the engaging speed of the clutch operator is detected. If this variable exceeds a limit value, the starting of the internal combustion engine is interrupted.

Abstract: A telematics service in a motor vehicle is provided by a mobile radio link between a telematics controller in the motor vehicle and an external telematics center. The telematics center is provided with data which identifies the motor vehicle from a first database and with data which identifies the mobile radio link from a second database. The the telematics center uses the data that has been provided to produce the authorization automatically.
