Abstract: In a process for processing cylinder crankcases having sprayed cylinder barrels, in which process a cylinder crankcase is cast, those surfaces of the subsequent cylinder barrels which are to be thermally coated are roughened, the cylinder barrels are coated by a thermal spraying process, and the cylinder barrels are remachined to final dimensions. After the thermal spraying process, coating material is at least partially removed from the crankshaft-side part of the cylinder crankcase.

Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas purification system. Intake air throttling is carried out in order to raise an exhaust gas temperature in a low-load mode and in a traction mode. The amount of intake air throttling is determined as function of an expected load demand so that, with an expected unchanged or decreasing load demand, an increased or maximum possible intake air throttling is set. With an expected rising load demand, however, no or reduced intake air throttling is set, and the expected load demand is estimated based on operating and ambient parameters of the internal combustion engine.
Abstract: In an internal combustion engine having cylinders connected by means of controllable brake valves to a common gas pressure container which is in communication, by way of an outflow line with an outflow valve, with the exhaust strand of the internal combustion engine, an inlet gas pressure container is connected to the intake tract of the internal combustion engine and is in communication with the common pressure container by means of a recirculation line having a controllable check valve arranged therein permitting the establishment of various engine operating and control features.
Abstract: In a motor vehicle drive arrangement oil is supplied to a drive gear mechanism and other drive elements by an oil pump which is driven only by an electric motor and is arranged in a space in which one or more torque transmission devices such as a hydrodynamic torque converter, an operable drive clutch and at least one electric motor for forming a hybrid drive are disposed and which is formed between the oil pump and electric motor, on the one hand, and the vehicle travel drive motor on the other, the oil pump is disposed around a shaft transmitting the drive torque to the transmission and is surrounded by the electric motor driving the pump.

Abstract: In a compressor in the induction tract of an internal combustion engine with a compressor by which combustion air can be compressed to an increased boost pressure and which includes a compressor wheel rotatably mounted in a compressor housing with a main inlet duct in the flow path to the compressor wheel, and an auxiliary inlet duct joining the main inlet duct in the area of the compressor wheel, an adjustable swirl device is provided in the auxiliary intake duct, which comprises two separate, interacting swirl structures with a plurality of guide vanes distributed over the periphery and arranged so that the flow cross-section between the guide vanes of the two swirl structures can be changed by an adjusting motion of at least one swirl structure, the vane height of the guide vanes of the smaller swirl structure being 5% to 35% of the vane height of the guide vanes of the larger swirl structure.
Abstract: The invention relates to a washing device for a glass pane in a vehicle, having a washing-water line which runs along the lower edge of the glass pane and at least one washing-water nozzle which is connected to the washing-water line. In order to obtain a reduced installation space for the washing-water device in the vehicle and in order to comply with regulations relating to the protection of pedestrians, the washing-water nozzle comprises an elongate pipe section and an elongate, flat valve housing which is flange-connected to the pipe section and in which are arranged at least one spray opening with an opening axis which runs transverse to the housing axis, and also a non-return valve which is arranged upstream of the spray opening.
Abstract: An air supply mechanism for a vehicle seat has an air discharging opening which is provided in the upper region of the vehicle seat and via which the head, shoulder, and neck region of a seat occupant can be subjected to an airflow in order to reduce undesirable draft phenomena. The airflow can be regulated with a control device, by regulating a blower speed of a fan, and can be heated via a heating element. The heating element has three heating stages which can be selected by a manually setting a regulating device by the seat occupant in order to select a heating stage and/or by the control device in response to an external parameter value. It is possible for the control device to regulate the blower speed of the fan in response to a further external parameter value. This construction makes it possible for the sensation of heat experienced by the seat occupant to be taken into account in the elimination of a sensation of a draft.

Abstract: The invention relates to a twin clutch transmission of high efficiency which is compact in every dimension. This twin clutch transmission can be used particularly in vehicles having a longitudinally installed engine. For this purpose, the transmission input shaft and the transmission output shaft are arranged coaxially with respect to one another, whereas the two countershafts are arranged parallel to one another. Furthermore, the shift sleeves are arranged in a special way, thus making seven forward gears and a plurality of reverse gears possible.

Abstract: A method for detecting surroundings by an automotive night vision system comprising several areas, including a detection area (3) in which surroundings related data is detected, an evaluation area within which the surroundings-related data detected by the night vision system is evaluated, and an area of representation in which information about the surroundings-related data detected therein is represented to the driver by an optical display unit. The area of representation is therefore restricted in the inventive method for detecting surroundings such that the area of representation comprises no more than the high beam area (2). Abstract: A cylinder head for internal combustion engines, comprising a metallic valve seat ring that is formed by a thermally sprayed homogeneous layer made of a basic Co or Co/Mo alloy. The sum of the Co content and Mo content in the alloy exceeds 50 percent by weight while the Fe content lies below 5 percent by weight. Also disclosed is a method for thermally spraying said valve seat ring by means of an arc wire spraying process with the aid of at least two filler wires and/or composite wires, the essential Co portion in the deposited layer being delivered by the jacket of the filler wire and/or the matrix of the composite wire.

Abstract: The invention relates to a granular material for 3D binder printing, said granular material consisting of particles provided with an externally non-polar surface layer (2). Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust particulate filter with a filter body (4), comprising a number of filter pockets (3) arranged one behind the other and formed by filter plates (1), the filter plates (1) having a planar cutout opening (2). According to the invention, it is provided that the peripheral contour (8) of the planar cutout opening (2) comprises points which are located at different distances from the centroid (S) of the area of the cutout opening (2). For an exhaust particulate filter according to the invention, it is further provided that the centroid (S) of its at least one area of the cutout opening (2) is arranged at a distance from the central longitudinal axis (7) of the filter body (4) on the filter plate (1) or that the filter body (4) has filter plates (1) with different cutout openings (2). The exhaust particulate filter is suitable in particular for an application in motor vehicles with a diesel engine.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for generating a map depiction displaying street courses to travel through, for example in navigation, toll ticketing depiction or in precision applications such as automatic driving. For this purpose a street course consists of stringing together geometrical elements, for example, one or several circle arcs or one or several straight lines, wherein clothoids connect circle arcs and/or straight lines without sharp bends. The clothoids are calculated according to a required resolution from the arc of circle elements approximately approached by values or simply omitted, thereby making it possible to obtain a map depiction particularly reliably and optimal in terms of memory allocations.
Abstract: In a multi-disk clutch comprising a rotary body having splines formed thereon so as to extend helically along the surface thereof, with a number of disks having central openings with inwardly projecting teeth via which the discs are in rotationally positively locking engagement with the rotary body, the teeth are twisted so as to extend in a plane normal to the surface of the helically extending splines of the rotary body so that the end face areas of the teeth are in planar contact with the spline surfaces of the rotary body for the transmission of torque between the rotary body and the disks.
