Abstract: A measuring and transferring device for automatically metering predetermined and variable quantities of virgin plastic material, reprocessed plastic material and color concentrate to an extrusion machine. This masterbatch material blender incorporates a rotary conveyor having openings therein that receive and retain predetermined amounts of virgin plastic material and color concentrate in one position of movement of the conveyor and discharge same to the extruder in yet another position of movement thereof. Furthermore, such conveyor is adapted to control yet another reciprocable metering and transfer mechanism that similarly controls the addition of reprocessed material to the batch by way of the same measuring and transferring device.
Abstract: Metallic salts of higher molecular weight fatty acids are produced in a continuous process by feeding fatty acid and base into a plug flow reactor to maintain a residence time of about 2 to about 60 minutes at a temperature of about 75.degree. F. to about 280.degree. F. to obtain a metallic salt, then grinding the metallic salt in a hammer mill to obtain coarse particles and then grinding the coarse particles in a jet mill to obtain fine particles of the metallic salt. Optionally, the fatty acid and base may be fed initially into a stirred-tank reactor to maintain a residence time of about 10 to about 80 minutes at a temperature of from about 115.degree. F. to about 300.degree. F. to initiate metallic salt reaction before feeding the metallic salt reaction mixture into the plug flow reactor.
Abstract: An open top receptacle with a laterally extending handle on one side is arranged to receive a cup-shaped cover. This cover includes a valve assembly to close off an opening in the top of the cover to prevent spilling or splashing of either hot or cold beverages from the receptacle. The valve assembly in turn includes a valve head biased against the opening in the cover by resilient integral supporting arms secured to the underside of the cover. An actuating member passes into one side of the cover at a point spaced 90.degree. from the opening, this point being generally vertically above the lateral handle on the receptacle. With this arrangement, a person can hold the handle of the receptacle in the manner of a mug using the thumb to depress the actuating member inwardly which action moves the valve head away from the opening in the cover to permit drinking of the beverage in the receptacle.
Abstract: A composition for stripping solder and tin from a copper substrate having an extended life is provided by the inclusion of a polyacrylamide in a peroxide-fluoride based stripping composition. The presence of the polyacrylamide minimizes the adverse effect of the stripping composition on the copper substrate of the material undergoing treatment.
