  • Patent number: 7591661
Abstract: The invention provides a connector enabling a dead space of a substrate to be reduced while maintaining connection strength. For this purpose, H-shaped contacts comprise holding means permitting pushing portions of a pivoting member to be pivoted between pressure receiving portions and connection portions of the contacts. When an actuating portion of the pivoting member is moved toward a fitting opening of a housing, the pushing portions are pivotally moved and their axes of rotation are moved to achieve their compact rotation, thereby bringing contact portions of the contacts into contact with a connecting object. The substrate is formed with a notch into which the connector is fitted to be connected to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7581973
Abstract: A cam structure is pivotally moving between electronic parts to act on the other parts, which enables the action on the other parts upon pivotal movement to be varied by partly modifying a cam shape of the cam structure. For example, when the cam structure is pivotally moved in a connector to bring contacts into contact with a connecting object inserted in the connector, contact pressure of the contacts is controlled by partly modifying the cam shape of the cam structure. The cam structure has advantages that its cam portion can be pivotally moved by a slight force without requiring any large force and being capable of shifting the timing at which the cam contacts the mating parts depending upon customers specifications.

  • Patent number: 7575466
Abstract: An electrical connector to be detachably fitted with a mating connector, including a plurality of contacts, a housing for arranging and holding the contacts, and a shell covering the housing and forming with the housing a fitting opening for the mating connector. The shell has at least one engaging piece, and the housing has an anchoring portion at a location corresponding to the engaging piece to cause the anchoring portion to engage the engaging piece, thereby restraining the housing from being displaced in the direction opposite to the fitting direction upon fitting with the mating connector. Even being miniaturized, the electrical connector is securely positioned relative to the mating connector when fitting with it, and the housing is securely prevented from being displaced upon the mating connector abutting against the housing, thereby completely preventing any defective connection.

  • Publication number: 20090149088
Abstract: A microcontact according to the invention is less than 10 mm in length and composed of a conductive basis material, a base surface treatment layer formed thereon, and an upper surface treatment layer, and includes a contact portion, a terminal portion, and an intermediate portion formed over its entire circumference with exposed oxide surfaces of the base surface treatment layer. The exposed oxide surfaces are formed by irradiating the front and rear surfaces of the contact with laser beams at respective predetermined inclined angles to remove the upper surface treatment layer and simultaneously to oxidize the narrow base surface treatment layer exposed by the removal of the upper surface treatment layer. In this manner, the exposed oxide surfaces can be formed with a high accuracy in a simple manner for stopping solder rise at a predetermined position when the terminal portion of the microcontact is jointed to a substrate by soldering.

  • Publication number: 20090130881
Abstract: A connector to be detachably fitted with a connecting object, includes a required number of contacts, a housing, and a pivoting member acting upon the contacts to bring them into contact with a connecting object. In case of having many contacts, at least one contact is provided with an extended portion at a tip of its pressure receiving portion to extend toward its connection portion, and instead of a pushing portion of the pivoting member acting upon the contact, the pivoting member is provided with an engaging rod to engage the extending portion of the contact. The contact is arranged at an optional position so as to prevent the pivoting member from being warped. The contacts are arranged in a single row, or alternately arranged to be staggered. With the connector thus constructed, the pivoting member is not damaged when pivotally moving after the connecting object has been inserted to achieve a stable electrical connection even with very small pitches of contacts and very thin walls of the housing.

  • Patent number: 7510408
Abstract: A grounding structure is provided in an electrical connector, which includes contacts, a housing, a shell, and a ground terminal or a ground lug. The shell has a through-hole communicating with a fitting groove, an installing groove, and a connection portion groove, and the through-hole has an inserting groove into which the ground terminal is inserted, a screw portion for holding the ground terminal, a spacing groove for avoiding any interference with the ground lug integrally mounted on the housing, and an engaging portion to engage a locking portion of the housing. Both the ground lug and the ground terminal are constructed to become electrically conductive with the same shell, respectively, so that grounding is effected by either of the ground lug integrally mounted on the housing and the separately provided ground terminal. It is thus possible to select one contact or the separate ground terminal with respect to the same shell for grounding.
