    Abstract: An L-shaped contact includes a contact portion adapted to contact a mating object, a fixed portion to be fixed to a housing, and a connection portion to be connected to a connecting object, and a hole formed in a bent portion between the fixed portion and the connection portion. When the contact is fixed to the housing, the contact is inserted into the housing by pushing an end face of the hole. The L-shaped contact ensures a stable contacting surface area for being pushed by a jig and enables to bear a heavy-electric current to pass therethrough without adversely affecting miniaturization of a connector and extremely narrow pitches of the conductors.

The housing includes two side walls, a rear wall, and a lower wall contiguous with these side and rear walls to form the inserting openings for the memory cards by these two side walls, rear wall and lower wall, and is provided with a pivotally movable plate to form, by its pivotal movement, the one inserting opening for inserting either of the cards and simultaneously to prevent the other card from being inserted. The card connector enables stable connection by merely inserting two different cards having equal lengths in the inserting direction and different widths and thicknesses into the connector.

    Abstract: A connector includes a required number of contacts of three kinds and a housing having inserting holes for these contacts. One set of three contacts or contacts A, B and C are inserted into the same inserting hole of the housing. The contact A is inserted into the inserting hole from the side of a fitting opening of the housing, while the contact B and the contact C are inserted in parallel with each other into the inserting hole from the opposite side of the fitting opening such that the contact A and the contact C are aligned with each other and the contact A and the contact B are arranged to be staggered relative to each other, thereby bringing a flexible printed circuit board into contact with the contacts A and contacts B upon insertion of the circuit board. With this construction, narrow pitches less than 0.25 mm can be obtained, and high density can also be achieved.

Even there is an operating space only on the fitting opening side, the pivoting member being operatable, and a ZIF construction and upper and lower contact portions are possible.

    Abstract: An electrical connector includes a plurality of contacts to be connected to a cable, a housing for arranging and holding the contacts, a shell dividable into two shells covering the housing and having a holding device for holding the cable, and an insulating member covering the shell. One of the shells is provided with anchoring portions and the other shell is provided with engaging portions so that when both the shells are fitted with each other, the anchoring portions and the engaging portions are engaged with each other to bring both the shells into electrical continuity with each other. Therefore, the shells can be securely held together to achieve reliable electrical continuity between the shells, and at the same time grounding between the cable and the shell and between the shells themselves can be achieved.

Even being miniaturized, the electrical connector is securely positioned relative to the mating connector when fitting with it, and the housing is securely prevented from being displaced upon the mating connector abutting against the housing, thereby completely preventing any defective connection.

    Abstract: A connector includes contacts and an insulator. Each contact includes a contact portion, a first fixed portion, an elastic portion substantially in the form of a crank, a second fixed portion and a connection portion. The insulator includes a fixation block to which the second fixed portions are fixed, and a movable housing to which the first fixed portions are fixed. The movable housing is fixed only to the contacts and held by the elastic portions in a floating condition away from the bottom surface of the fixation block. The fixation block has a wall for preventing short circuit when the connector is being mounted on a substrate. A floating amount of more than 0.7 mm can be achieved with a simple construction without causing short circuit with a substrate when the connector is being fitted with a mating connector and without causing any failed connection.

With this construction, the contacts can be detachably fitted in a connector so that failed contacts can be easily replaced with new contacts.

    Abstract: An electrical connector includes a plug connector and a receptacle connector detachably fitted with each other. The plug connector comprises a plurality of coaxial cables, a flexible printed circuit board and a ground bar. Each of the coaxial cable has a center conductor, an insulator covering the center conductor, a braid as an external conductor covering the insulator, and a sheath covering the braid. The flexible printed circuit board has lands each connected to the center conductor of the coaxial cable and land portions to which the ground bar is connected. The grand bar has a main portion adapted to contact the braids of the coaxial cables, and fixed portions each positioned contiguously with the main portion and connected to the land portion. The electrical connector achieves the low height geometry of the plug connector and hence that of the receptacle connector and precludes any failed connection between the ground bar and the coaxial cables.
