Additional high-coercivity permanent magnets may be bonded to the coil-sides of each of the first and second yokes and adjoining the yoke-sides of each of the low-coercivity permanent magnets, if the relative thicknesses of the magnet materials so dictate by design.

Each phase of the wave winding structure has conductors in all layers of a same stator slot, and the wave windings are uniformly and symmetrically distributed. In addition, problems that a flat wire winding process is highly difficult and manufacturing costs are high due to an increase in a quantity of phases of the six-phase motor are effectively resolved.

    Abstract: Methods are provided for managing defects in Hard Disk Drive (HDD) storage devices. In particular, only a portion of the cylinders of an HDD is tested. Machine learning modeling is used to reconstruct the data for the untested cylinders. An HDD comprises a rotating disk and a read/write head actuated above the disk surface. The disk may be formatted into concentric data tracks, with each track being divided into sectors. The tracks may be organized into zones (groups of tracks called cylinders), and the axially parallel sectors in each cylinder may be organized into wedges. In a test mode, some portion of the cylinders is chosen for testing. Each wedge in the chosen cylinders is tested and labeled defective or non-defective. The test data for each defective wedge is run through a machine learning defect management logic, and inferences are made for the defective/non-defective status of the untested wedges.

Proof of space blockchain consensus systems utilize data stored in storage devices across the computing devices within the network. These storage devices are utilized to generate and store proof of space consensus data. This data is then accessed at a later time to respond to challenges issued across the blockchain network. In order to limit successful submissions of these challenge responses, one or more filters are utilized. These filters result in only a fraction of the stored data on a storage device to be useable for solving the blockchain challenge. Attackers may attempt to circumvent this filter to increase their odds of submitting an approved solution to the blockchain challenge. In order to address this, additional data structures are stored within the storage device and are registered at the time of creation on the blockchain to make these filters more robust.

The remaining portions of the sacrificial layer may form a discontinuous layer, including layer segments positioned along grain boundaries of the capping layer. The sacrificial layer may be made of non-magnetic materials different from the materials of the capping layer or materials of an overcoat layer deposited on the etched capping layer.
