  • Patent number: 6880868
Abstract: The invention concerns an electromagnetic lock comprising two parts, one of which comprises an electromagnet and the other a mobile armature capable of moving to counter the return springs when the electromagnet is energized. One of the parts has at least one protuberance extending from one edge of the corresponding part to the proximity of the other edge, the protuberance sized and positioned to be capable of penetrating into a housing of the other part when the parts coincide and the electromagnet is energized, the height of the protuberance being less than the distance normally separating the two parts when the electromagnet is not energized. This abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Publication number: 20040217939
Abstract: Keycaps of a keypad or regions of a digitizer contain an electrophoretic ink. An electric field is passed through selected regions of the ink to form a desired graphic label visible at the exposed surface of the keycap or region. In some cases, conductors within the keypad or digitizer alter the ink. In other cases, the keycaps or regions are placed proximate a printer that alters the ink, such as to initialize a generic keypad for a given function. A keypad contains a MOD key to cycle between language-specific variants of a last-entered character. In some cases, the keys are altered remotely to change their displays, such as to update subscriber service information or advertising.

  • Publication number: 20030160712
Abstract: An IACK keypad with independent key regions arranged in an array of multiple rows and columns, and combination key regions defined between rows and columns of the array of independent key regions. A trace matrix underlying the keymat either includes, in addition to normally isolated column traces and row traces underlying the independent key regions, trace extensions extending from the row and column traces to underlie the combination key regions, or additional row and column traces underlying the combination key regions and tied to other row and column traces. The trace extensions extend to within a contact region of an opposed electrical contact, such as on a snap dome, beneath the combination key region. Independent and combination key snap domes are constructed to insure singular tactile feedback during combination key operation.

  • Patent number: 6478938
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the development of a biosensor based on the immuno-chromatographic method that can provide an assay speed and convenience required for point-of-care (the doctor's office and emergency room) testing or home-version diagnosis. Though certain physical symptoms, such as pregnancy and ovulation, or bacterial infection may be identified by a qualitative analysis for the presence of indicating substances, most analytes for clinical investigation demand their concentrations known in specimens. Therefore, the inventors of the present invention have developed a novel biosensor by combining the immuno-chromatographic method and the electric conductivity detection technology so that on-site quantitative determination at the points of care or at home may be carried out.

  • Patent number: 6079549
Abstract: A drive circuit for an electromechanically excited vibratory conveyor responds to the inductance fluctuations of the conveyor drive coil due to mechanical vibration so as to feed the coil with drive pulses having a repetition frequency commensurate with the natural frequency of the mechanical vibration. Phase and duration of the drive pulses are automatically regulated.

  • Patent number: 6071317
Abstract: A method and system for modifying computer program logic with respect to a predetermined aspect, comprising (a) before run time: analyzing compiled computer program logic of a module for processes involving the predetermined aspect before run time, substantially without decompilation or reference to computer program source code; and storing a set of modifications relating to computer program logic modifications of the module relating to the predetermined aspect; and (b) at run time: based on the stored set of modifications, selectively transferring program control from the module to a separate logical structure, executing modified logical operations with respect to the predetermined aspect, and subsequently returning program control to the module. The predetermined aspect may be, for example, a data type, algorithm type, or interface specification.
