  • Patent number: 6446623
Abstract: A miniature patio heater is provided which has a total height of approximately 3 ft. and which has a shroud with a diameter less than 2 ft. The patio heater includes a base having a vertically extending chamber, which is approximately 1.5 ft. high, for receiving a small gas bottle. A hollow post extends upwardly from the upper end of the chamber. A heater assembly and shroud are supported at the upper end of the post. A gas line extends along the inside of the hollow post between the heater assembly and the chamber. A connector assembly provides a pivotal connection between the end of the gas line and a regulator connected to a gas bottle within the chamber. The chamber is provided with an access opening for inserting and removing the gas bottle. Thus, the gas bottle, with attached regulator, can be swung from a vertical upright position within the chamber outwardly through the access opening to an angular position to facilitate removal of an empty gas bottle and replacement with a full gas bottle.

  • Patent number: 6446294
Abstract: An electric toothbrush is provided which includes an elongate body having an interior cavity, a power source mounted within the cavity, an elongate drive shaft driven rotatably by the power source, a camwheel mounted on the drive shaft, a yoke with projecting arms which confine travel of the camwheel, a crankshaft section driven by the drive shaft, an output shaft axially aligned to the drive shaft, and a collar with a guide track eccentrically coupling the crankshaft section to the output shaft thereby imparting both lateral and rotary reciprocating motion to the output shaft. A brushhead mounted on the front end of the elongate body accepts the motion from the output shaft. The mechanical drive system is fully enclosed within the housing of the elongate body. Brushheads are replaceably mountable outside the cavity on the front end.

  • Patent number: 6439810
Abstract: A buoyancy system for a deep water floating platform includes at least one composite buoyancy module coupled to a riser. The module includes an elongate vessel with a vessel wall, and upper and lower ends. The vessel is attached to the riser, vertically oriented, and submerged under a surface of water such that the upper end is disposed at a lower water pressure, and the lower end at a higher water pressure. The vessel wall has a thickness that varies from a thinner wall thickness at the lower end to a thicker wall thickness at the upper end. The vessel may be internally pressurized with air such that an internal air pressure of the vessel substantially equals the higher water pressure at the lower end of the vessel resulting in a lower pressure differential at the lower end with the thinner wall thickness and a higher pressure differential at the top end with the thicker wall thickness. The module is sized to have a volume to produce a buoyancy force at least as great as the weight of the riser.
