Abstract: A hairspray composition is described that includes a nonionic polymer and an anionic polymer. The nonionic polymer is formed from monomers having at least one unneutralized carboxylic acid. The anionic polymer is identical to the nonionic one, except that all of the carboxylic acid groups are in salt form. Advantageously, the composition further includes an acrylic resin, most especially an amphoteric one. Best results are achieved when the acrylic resin is neutralized with a relatively small cation such as potassium and a second cation of a water soluble fatty amine. These compositions employ water as the carrier and dimethyl ether as propellant.

Abstract: Isotropic liquid detergent composition comprises specific soil antiredeposition polymers containing a hydrophilic backbone and monomer with hydrophobic side chains. When the molar ratio of the number hydrophilic groups to number of hydrophobic groups on said polymers is below certain critical levels, it has been unexpectedly found that the stability (i.e., clarity) of the composition remarkably increases. The solubility of the polymer is further dependent on the type and amount (minimum required) of hydrotrope; surfactant type and levels; and minimum electrolyte levels.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a novel method for balancing an illuminated display panel to achieve a predetermined level of illumination uniformity from indicia formed on the panel. One embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of first fabricating an unbalanced display panel having light translucent and absorptive layers deposited on a panel substrate with indicia formed in the light absorptive layers. The unbalanced panel is illuminated and the amount of light from the indicia formed in the panel are measured to identify illumination deficient indicia. A carbon dioxide laser beam is then focused onto the illumination deficient indicia so as to etch portions of the light translucent layer underlying these indicia and increase the amount of illumination from these indicia. In an alternative embodiment, an illuminated display panel is partially fabricated by applying a light translucent layer to a display panel substrate.

Abstract: A fuel control system is provided for use with an internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder, a source of gaseous fuel and an intake passageway for fluidly connecting the air intake to the combustion cylinder. The control system includes a gas flow rate sensor which generates an output signal representative of the fuel flow rate to the engine as well as a mass air flow sensor which generates a signal representative of the mass air flow rate to the engine. A fuel valve is fluidly connected in series between the source of gaseous fuel and the air intake passageway. The fuel valve is actuated by an electrical pulse stream between an open and a closed position so that the duty cycle of the pulse stream is proportional to the amount of fuel supplied to the engine. In response to the fuel flow rate signal, the air flow rate signal and a target air/fuel ratio, the control system generates PID gain scheduling parameters relative to the duty cycle of the pulse stream.

Abstract: An improved suspension connector assembly is provided that is particularly adapted for use with a multiple pin and barrel type electrical connector. The suspension connector assembly includes a female connector mounted within a stationary housing, a movable male connector adapted to be raised and lowered toward and away from the female connector via the cable of a hoisting mechanism, and a latching mechanism for latching and unlatching the male connector to the female connector when the two are mutually engaged for a latching stroke distance. A resilient mounting assembly interconnects the female connector with the stationary housing. The stroke of the resilient mounting assembly is at least as long as the latching stroke distance of the latching mechanism so that the pins and barrels of the male and female electrical connectors will not be partially pulled apart from one another as a result of the stroke of the latching mechanism.
