Abstract: Soured, water-continuous creams that are free of emulsifiers and that contain 5-15 wt % of at least a vegetable fat and that further contain a protein component and a thickener composition were found to be stable and spoonable.

Abstract: Improved deposition of a cosmetic agent, e.g. a sunscreen, from a cosmetic composition such as a hair or body shampoo is achieved by incorporating the cosmetic agent in the composition in combination with, e.g. carried on the surface of or within pores of, latex particles of a polymeric material having a particle size of less than about 1 micron.

Abstract: Novel bleach catalysts, a method for bleaching substrates using these catalysts and detergent compositions containing same are reported. The bleaches are of the quaternary oxaziridinium salt type. Substrates such as fabrics may be bleached in an aqueous solution containing the quaternary oxaziridinium salt. ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.4 may be a substituted or unsubstituted radical selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, aryl, heterocyclic ring, alkyl and cycloalkyl radicals;R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 may be a substituted or unsubstituted radical selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, aryl, heterocyclic ring, alkyl, cycloalkyl, nitro, halo, cyano, alkoxy, keto, carboxylic and carboalkoxy radicals; andX.sup.- is a counterion stable in the presence of oxidizing agents.

Abstract: A railway diesel engine lubricating composition is essentially free of zinc dithiophosphate wear inhibitors and chlorinated inhibitors. This composition has an oil of lubricating viscosity; a noncarbonated sulfurized calcium alkyl phenate, a carbonated sulfurized calcium alkyl phenate, a calcium Mannich alkyl phenate, and an ethylene carbonate modified polybutene bis-succinimide. The noncarbonated sulfurized calcium alkyl phenate has a sulfur to metal ratio of between 1.1:1 and 2:1, the alkyl group of that phenate has from 8 to 35 carbon atoms, and the alkalinity value of that phenate is from 40 to 200 mg. KOH/gram. The noncarbonated sulfurized metal alkyl phenate is prepared by reacting a tetrapropylene phenol, sulfur, and a calcium base.

Abstract: A rich and creamy sauce or soup is provided with a reduced fat content by incorporating the fat droplets in two populations, i.e. droplets above 10 microns and droplets below 5 microns, with the emulsion being substantially free of fat droplets between 5 and 10 microns.

Abstract: An arrangement for attaching and quickly disconnecting and jettisoning a rocket booster from a core space vehicle. The arrangement includes a housing connected at one end to the booster and a segmented nut carried within the housing that threadedly engages a bolt end of an interface mounting clevis secured to the space vehicle. A retainer both locks the segmented nut on the bolt and is responsive to high pressure fluid to slide out of locking engagement with the nut and to urge a conically shaped wedge into a shaped end of the segmented nut to force the segments outwardly out of threaded engagement with the bolt end to disconnect the booster from the space vehicle. High pressure fluid is also applied to a piston having a plunger in engagement with the bolt end so that the bolt end is swiftly driven out of the housing and the booster is thereby jettisoned form the space vehicle. The high pressure fluid is preferably provided by a pyrotechnic device.

Abstract: A liquid system includes a liquid medium and a thickening mixture, the thickening mixture being dispersed in the liquid medium and comprising a synergistic mixture of a gum-type polymer and an acrylic-type polymer. The thickening system is applicable to a wide variety of systems, including detergent and cleaning compositions.

Abstract: A brace plate for bracing concrete column forms includes a flexible base and an extension extending at an angle therefrom. The extension has a slot for receiving a tightening strap and holes to receive fasteners for fastening the brace plate to a brace. In use, a plurality of brace plates are disposed around the circumference of a column form so that the bases conform to the outer surface of the column form. The tightening strap is inserted through each of the brace plates and drawn snugly around the column form. Each brace plate is fastened to its corresponding brace in such a way as to allow relative movement between the brace plate and the brace. Once the braces are secured and the column form is aligned, each brace plate is further fastened to each brace so as to prevent relative movement between each brace plate and its corresponding brace.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided wherein a phytosphingosine-containing ceramide is stably suspended within a C.sub.6 -C.sub.100 ester base functioning as a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and the ceramide is solubilized by a glycerol C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 mono fatty acid ester.

Abstract: An improved connecting device for of securing a pipe fitting of one material to a pipe of another. This invention provides a connector body with an insert fitting which does not leak therebetween. Further, the invented device has an integral annular flange, which extends into the surrounding body thereby preventing the body from expanding with heat and slipping with relation to the insert upon engaging the fitting with a nipple or other pipe material, and twisting forcefully.

Abstract: A dual compartment infusion packet has the compartments directly secured to each other at one end of the packet and separated by a V-fold of the packet material at the other end. A suspension thread has an intermediate portion lying within the fold and end portions extending therefrom through attachment means at the other end of the packet. The end portions are displaceable in the attachment means so that when tensioned they contract the packet to squeeze out liquid held in the packet after an infusion process.

Abstract: A process for preparing a concentrated detergent composition useful in automatic machine dishwashers comprising preparing a dry mixture of a thickening polymer and a sodium trimetaphosphate builder, then adding the dry blend to water and subsequently adding a potassium hydroxide base to form a homogeneous solution. Sodium silicate and optional ingredients are then added to the process. Compositions resulting from the process contain a K+/Na+ weight ratio of greater than about 0.5 to about 1 and a viscosity of from 1,800 to about 3,500 cps.

Abstract: Gloss-retention of chocolate compositions, in particular of chocolate coatings can be improved by incorporation of an amount of a fat blend, comprising two fat components i.e. A and B,A being a fat with a C.sub.18 trans-content of 15-70%B being a (H.sub.2 M+M.sub.2 H)-type fat, whereinH=saturated fatty acid.gtoreq.C.sub.16M=saturated fatty acid: C.sub.8 -C.sub.14with a specific carbon number distribution, such that ##EQU1## the amounts of B in the blend being: 0.2-30 wt % on fat phase.

Abstract: The present invention relates to personal product compositions selected from the group consisting of soap bar compositions, facial or body cleansing compositions, shampoo compositions, conditioner compositions, cosmetic compositions, dental compositions, and underarm deodorant/anti-perspirant compositions comprising specific alkyl sulfooxy alkanoate surfactant compounds. A portion of the alkyl sulfooxy alkanoate surfactants contains a "benefit reagent" which forms when the molecule is metabolized by enzymes on the body or elsewhere or which forms when the surfactant spontaneously hydrolyses on the skin surface.
