Abstract: A transportable and foldable articulated bed with a non-positively driven articulated mattress platform that reduces the risk of injury and permits the bed to be folded for transport without disconnecting platform drive systems. The mattress platform is articulated on a foldable frame consisting of a head section hinged to a foot section. A pair of retractable caster assemblies can be swiveled 270 degrees from a storage position mounted on the head frame section and connected to the foot frame section with both sections aligned to a position where it can also be connected to both sections when the bed is folded so it can be rolled about.

Abstract: A gas-assisted process for the rapid conversion of oligomers of alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acids, esters or nitrogen salts thereof to cyclic esters in high yields and high states of purity. An inert gas is intimately contacted with the oligomer so as to create a large interfacial area. The large interfacial area permits removal of the cyclic ester substantially as fast as the cyclic ester is formed.
Abstract: A laminated sill wrap assembly for providing an air infiltration barrier between and around the sill plate and foundation wall of a building under construction is disclosed. The sill wrap assembly comprises a batt of infiltration material laminated into a portion of a spunbonded or woven polyolefin sheet. The unlaminated portion of the sheet extends to form a single sealing flap. The flap is provided with an adhesive strip for attaching the flap to an outside wall surface of the building. In use, the laminated portion of the assembly is positioned snugly between the sill plate and foundation interface and the flap is wrapped upwardly around the sill plate and attached to the outside wall surface by the adhesive strip. Once in place, the assembly provides an air infiltration barrier between the inside and outside areas of the building.
Abstract: Pyrazolines and their intermediates, including all geometric and stereoisomers of the pyrazolines and intermediates, agricultural compositions containing the pyrazolines, and methods for use as insecticides.
Abstract: An improved intensifying lead screen for use with photographic, industrial X-ray films. This screen comprises a lead foil or lead oxide adhesively applied to a polyester support and optionally contains an overcoat or protective layer thereon.
Abstract: An autoclave for sterilizing waste or the like has a stirrer and a loading opening. The loading opening is connected to a pressure lock, which has at least one filling opening to be closed in pressure-tight manner. The filling opening leads into at least one chamber provided in the pressure lock casing. This chamber forms part of a mechanism moving the chamber from a filling position connected to at least one filling opening into a loading position connected to the loading opening.

Abstract: A method of producing an anhydrous niobium or tantalum pentafluoride involving reacting the corresponding pentoxide or oxyhalide with an excess of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride in the presence of a sufficient dehydrating agent (e.g., COCl.sub.2, SOCl.sub.2 or SO.sub.2 Cl.sub.2) to react with any water formed. Such a process is useful to produce a catalyticallyactive anhydrous niobium or tantalum pentafluoride in essentially a single liquid phase reaction step.
Abstract: Packages prepared from a flexible static charge-dissipating structure comprising a substrate film, a coating layer of heat sealable thermoplastic matrix containing micron sized particles of a silica containing material surface coated with antimony-containing tin oxide crystallites, and optionally a thin layer of metal, provide excellent static charge protection to sensitive electronic components.

Abstract: The present invention describes the use of 1,3-dialkylimidazole-2-thiones as a catalyst for epoxy/anhydride reactions (and other reactions) and a method of making these catalysts. Epoxy/anhydride coatings containing these improved catalysts offer the following advantages: improved appearance (especially since even weeks after application the coatings still have a "wet" look); better pot-life; improved resistance to alkaline substances which will improve durability; improved solubility; and coatings which have a reduced volatile organic content (VOC).

Abstract: An apparatus for trimming back fat off a pork loin comprises (a) a flat and arcuate cutting blade, (b) a conveyor formed of an endless belt arcuate in cross section and having a smooth top surface, and (c) a pair of endless chains provided with teeth. In operation, the loin is conveyed toward the blade between the endless chains and the top surface of the conveyor. During its transport toward the blade the pork loin is pressed between the two chains and the conveyor with the teeth of the chains penetrating the meat. The conveyor and the chains are driven at different linear speeds to produce in the pressed loin a compression and tension distribution which facilitates passage of the meat through the cutting blade and improves trimming of the back fat. As the top surface of the conveyor is smooth, it allows the conveyed loin to slide laterally toward the center of the conveyor. The loin is thereby centered before it reaches the blade.
Abstract: Compounds which are useful as inhibitors of cholesterol biosynthesis and thus as hypocholesteroleumic agents are provided which have the structure ##STR1## wherein R is OH, or salts thereof or lower alkoxy; R.sup.x is H or alkyl;X is --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.dbd.CH--, --C.tbd.C--, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- or --CH.sub.2 O-- (where O is linked to Z);Z is a hydrophobic anchor, such as ##STR2## wherein the dotted lines represent optional double bonds. New intermediates used in preparing the above compounds, pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds and a method for using such compounds to inhibit cholesterol biosynthesis are also provided.
