Abstract: A carpet underlay is described which consists of a cushion layer having a scrim layer attached to its undersurface by a solvent adhesive. The upper layer also has a solvent adhesive applied thereto and a double adhesive coated film is securely affixed to the cushion surface by the solvent adhesive layer and the adhesive on the film. A release film is disposed above the upper layer of the double adhesive coated film.
Abstract: A device for keeping the annular outlet mouth of the gas volute always centered about the nozzle assembly in a gas turbine, consisting of two diametrically divided retaining rings embracing said annular mouth, the lower half-ring having an inner radius greater than that of the upper half-ring, this latter forming predetermined radial gap with said annular mouth.

Abstract: A hydroxyphenyl-benzotriazole bisurea UV light stabilizer for organic polymers and a process for making it are provided. The stabilizer is particularly useful for spandex polymer yarns that are subjected to solvent scouring. A preferred stabilizer of the invention is a bisurea formed by reacting methylene-bis(4-phenylisocyanate) with 2-[2-hydroxy-3-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-5-(N-aminoethyl)propionamid-phenyl]-2H- benzotriazole.
Abstract: A multilayer interconnect comprising a ceramic substrate, a patterned conductor layer, a layer of acrylic or acrylate adhesive, an organic insulating film, and a metal foil layer. Active electrical components can be soldered onto the metal foil layer. These circuits are particularly useful in under the hood automotive applications.
Abstract: An improved process is provided for flash-spinning plexifilamentary film-fibril strands of fiber-forming polyolefin from a small group halocarbon liquids that, if released to the atmosphere, present a greatly reduced ozone depletion hazard, as compared to the halocarbon currently-used commerically for making the strands. The preferred halocarbon for this purpose is 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane.
Abstract: The disclosed invention is directed to polycyanoarylether membranes. These membranes are formed by reacting an aromatic diol with a dihalobenzonitrile or dinitrobenzonitrile in the presence of a base and a polar, aprotic solvent. These membranes can be provided as either homopolymers or copolymers.

Abstract: A process for producing an article of a synthetic resin material or a thermoplastic resin blend having a microcellular structure comprises dispersing in a solid thermoplastic resin matrix having hydrophilic functional groups a finely divided water-soluble material, shaping the resin matrix containing the water-soluble material into the desired article, and immersing the shaped article in water at a suitable temperature to cause the resin matrix to swell to an extent of at least about 50% by volume while wet. The immersion causes water to diffuse into the resin matrix and solvate the water-soluble material, which becomes encased in water-filled cells that have solid walls, are substantially closed, and do not form an interconnecting porous network.Articles made by this process include, among others, vascular grafts and organoids.

Abstract: A cap-sensitive flexible explosive composition of reduced flammability is provided by incorporating a finely divided, cap-sensitive explosive in a flame resistant polymeric binder system which contains a compatible flame retardant material.
Abstract: An insulation displacement contact for insulation displacement contacting of an insulated electrical conductor disposed in a cable. Each contact comprises two flat sheet parts abutting against each other, obtained by folding over a flat blank of metal and provided with projecting tongues bounding an aperture for receiving the cable and displacing the insulation thereof. The ends of the tongues lying away from the aperture are folded over essentially at right angles to the plane of the flat sheet parts, in order to form an H-shape.
Abstract: Substituted pyrroles, pyrazoles and triazoles such as ##STR1## and their pharmaceutically suitable salts are useful as antihypertensive agents and for treatment of congestive heart failure.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of 3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid salt by the dehalodimerization of a 4-halophthalic acid salt. The process uses hydroxylamine or one of its salts as the reducing agent in an alkaline solution, preferably of pH 10 or above, and palladium catalyst. The reaction is carried out between 50.degree. and 150.degree. C.
Abstract: A wheel formed of a rim joined to a hub by a multi-spoke foam structure that is coated with a fiber reinforced resin material is defined by particular relationships between the spokes and the radiused sections joining the spokes to the hub and the rim.
Abstract: A composition comprising tetrafluoroethylene polymers and selected poly(2,2-dialkylpropiolactones) that is useful as a molding compound is disclosed. Also provided is a process for the production and use of such a mixture and the pyrolysis of the mixture to give polytetrafluoroethylene parts.

Abstract: A hybrid connector, comprising a housing having a contact side for making contact to a further connector, a connection side for connecting an electrical wiring and a flat substrate which is situated on the connection side of the connector. This substrate is provided with a plurality of hybrid circuit components, having connecting electrode patches. The contact elements of the connector are formed by parallel, electrically conducting contact tracks on a flexible film, which film extends over a supporting body from the contact side to the connection side of the connector. Assemblies of spring strips being provided, supported by the supporting body, for exerting a force on the film, such that its contact tracks make electrical contact to the corresponding contact electrodes or wiring electrodes of the further connector, the electrical wiring and the flat hybrid substrate. By using a special support frame for the substrate, a solder-free connector is provided.
