  • Patent number: 5040825
Abstract: The present invention relates to a combine header transport which may be rapidly and easily adjusted to support a wide variety of kinds and shapes of headers for transport. The transport includes an inclined bracket having a slotted sloped surface. A rail having a plate affixed thereto overlies the sloped surface and a second plate underlies the sloped surface. When the plates are loosened relative to each other, the rail may be readily slid along the sloped surface to effect rapid and simultaneous adjustment of the rail in both the transverse horizontal direction and in vertical elevation and, when the adjustment is complete, the plates clamp the inclined bracket.

  • Patent number: 5041102
Abstract: A coupling element system for an ostomy bag including a bag-side coupling element having a stomal orifice surrounded by a channel shaped member, a body-side coupling element having a stomal orifice surrounded by a rib-like member which can make snap-fit engagement with the channel shaped member, and a locking member. The latter member has radially inwardly deformable arms and is rotatable relative to the body-side coupling. The deformable arms are shaped and positioned so that upon rotation of the locking member in one rotary direction relative to the body-side coupling element they are deformed radially inwardly and over-lie a portion of the bag-side coupling element. The locking member may be generally annular with the arms arcuate in shape each with a blade portion and a leg portion which connects the blade portion to the remainder of the locking member.

  • Patent number: 5040470
Abstract: A method and system for flue gas recirculation is disclosed which will minimize NOx production from hydrocarbon combustion. In the present invention a furnace having an oxygen-bearing primary source of combustion air, a mixing chamber, a combustion chamber in downstream communication with the mixing chamber and an exhaust section downstream of the combustion chamber is provided with a flue gas recirculation line. The recirculation line establishes communication between the exhaust section and the mixing chamber for the return of combustion products as a secondary source of combustion air which is relatively lean in oxygen and is combined with the primary source of combustion air in the mixing chamber. The ratio of flow rates for the primary and secondary sources of combustion air is controlled by a signal generated by a sensor which senses the oxygen concentration in the mixing chamber.

  • Patent number: 5041525
Abstract: In a process for the manufacture of shaped polyethylene terephthalate structures, such as film or fiber, a crystalline sodium aluminosilicate molecular sieve is used as the catalyst for the polymerization of di(2-hydroxyethyl phthalate) or higher oligomer intermediate. In film, especially for audio and video tapes, the molecular sieve serves both as the catalyst and as a slip additive. In addition to the fact that this process eliminates antimony trioxide, heretofore used as the polymerization catalyst, the polyethylene terephthalate film made by the process of this invention has considerably fewer defects such as microgel inclusions, black specks, and pimples. Further, the amount of diethylene glycol formed in the process is reduced. Finally, polyethylene terephthalate degradation, contributing to the exudation of lower molecular weight materials, also is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5038838
Abstract: A system for safe vapor recovery, particularly for fuel filling installations, in which a positive displacement pump effects controlled drawing of a vapor-air mixture into a vapor return pipe which extends to the bottom of the underground tank of the installation. The system is provided with a non-return valve downstream of the pump and a special circuit for effecting the controlled in-drawing based on the quantity of fuel delivered, the difference in temperature between the underground tank and the recovered mixture, and especially on the density of the mixture, by which its degree of explosiveness is determined. Structure are also provided for preventing or limiting explosion propagation.

  • Patent number: 5038742
Abstract: A vaporizing nozzle which comprises a wall (16) of porous material through which a liquid to be evaporated percolates from one side thereof into a gas stream at the other side thereof and a thermoelectric device (30) located at or adjacent the wall of porous material whereby to regulate the temperature thereof. A computer is provided, with a read only memory (ROM) or equivalent containing a "map" of the air to fuel ratio required for given values of the various parameters and compares the sensed values with the map held in memory and sends an appropriate signal to thermoelectric device controller which responds by sending a current of the correct magnitude and polarity to the device such that the device, which is in close proximity to the wall heats or cools the surface of the wall to a desired level thus regulating the flow or fuel therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5040237
Abstract: An alternate home channel for a land mobile transmission trunked communication system designates one of a plurality of repeaters for a given site or coverage zone as an alternate home repeater. The control signals transmitted over the subaudio band for all home channels repeaters in that site are also duplicatively transmitted over the subaudio band of the alternate home repeater. Each mobile transceiver will be programmed with two channel numbers. One for the home repeater and the other for the site alternate home repeater. When the power is turned on, the mobile transceiver determines which repeater to monitor by scanning both the home and alternate home channels. When a valid control message is detected on either channel, that channel becomes the monitor channel. Operation of the mobile transceiver is then generally similar to prior operation, with the exception that the monitor channel (either home or alternate home channel) is used instead of just the home channel.
