Abstract: A method is provided for inhibiting onset of or treating depression by administering an ACE inhibitor, such as captopril, fosinopril, zofenopril or ceranapril in combination with a drug that acts at serotonin receptors such as zacopride, over a prolonged period of treatment.
Abstract: A laminated foam mattress overlay for preventing the formation of decubitus ulcers in bedridden individuals. The mattress overlay includes an upper layer of polyurethane foam laminated to a base layer of a different polyurethane foam. The upper lay features a polyurethane foam which is of a higher density than the base layer. The upper layer also includes a higher initial softness ratio than the base layer. The base layer has higher 5, 25 and 65% indentation load deflection values (ILD) than the corresponding ILD values for the upper layer which is attributable to the firmer support provided by the foundation or base layer. The base layer is preferably thicker than the upper layer which can include a checkerboard-like upper surface. The combination of layers provides for a reduction in pressure points in the areas of greatest concern such as the hip and heel.
Abstract: A non-photographic method for making patterns in organic polymer films comprising the sequential steps:a. Applying to a substrate an unpatterned first layer comprising a solid organic polymer which is dispersible in a predetermined eluant;b. Applying to the unpatterned first layer a patterned second layer comprising an agent which is capable of changing the dispersibility of the solid organic polymer in the predetermined eluant;c. Effecting patterned diffusion of the dispersibility-changing agent into the underlying solid organic polymer layer; andd. Removing the areas of the underlying solid organic polymer which are dispersible in the eluant by washing them with the predetermined eluant.
Abstract: A photosensitive aqueous developable photosensitive gold conductive composition is disclosed which is fireable in a nonoxidizing atmosphere is developable in an aqueous solution containing 0.8 percent by weight sodium carbonate.
Abstract: An improved corner guard assembly is provided for use in attaching suspension cords to the edgefold surface of a bonded nonwoven polyolefin film-fibril banner. The corner guard assembly comprises a pair of isosceles triangular plates, namely a front plate and a back plate. The two plates clamp a corner of the banner and are secured to each other by projections on the back plate which engage corresponding receptacles in the front plate. The projections have a generally tubular configuration in order to receive a detachably mounted locking peg for prohibiting relative movement of the projections in the receptacles. The improvement comprises mounting the locking pegs on the front plate so that they extend partly into the cavity defined by the receptacles. During use, the pegs can be driven into the projections without danger of bending or breaking.
Abstract: A composition of a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol, 0.01 to 0.5 weight percent of a monovalent or divalent metal salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 3 to 9 carbon atoms and 0.05 to 0.5 weight percent of a hindered phenolic antioxidant exhibits improved stability toward oxidative gel formation at elevated temperatures.
Abstract: A crosshead for reciprocating piston machines, in particular reciprocating compressors, wherein the piston rod fixing flange is connected directly to the connecting rod gudgeon pin by clamping screws passing through corresponding holes in the flange and crosshead body and engaging in threaded bores provided in the gudgeon pin, the screws being tightened with a load much higher than the load which the connection has to transmit.

Abstract: A pillar used as part of a shoring, decking or scaffolding frame is made from length of aluminum extrusion having an octagonal periphery with a plurality of internal radial projections whose ends jointly define an unencumbered axial channel dimensioned to receive at either end, the threaded stem of height-adjustment screw-jacks, without need of any screw-jack-mounting sleeves or other screw-jack-centering and holding device.
Abstract: A process is disclosed for inhibiting corrosion in tin-plated steel aerosol cans which contain aqueous aerosol formulations and a propellant. Compositions such as the isopropylamine, cyclohexylamine, 2-ethylhexylamine and tertiary C.sub.12-14 alkyl primary amine salts of N-acyl sarcosine; morpholine salts of oleic acid, acetic acid, benzoic acid, and N-acyl sarcosine; cyclohexylamine, 2-ethylhexylamine, tertiary C.sub.12-14 alkyl primary amine and tertiary C.sub.18-22 alkyl primary amine salts of benzoic acid are disclosed.
Abstract: A blend of refrigerant with at least one fluorinated hydrocarbon, comprising at least one graft of a perfluoroalkene or a perfluoroalkylvinyl ether onto at least one hydrocarbon having at least four (4) carbon atoms, the number of carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon and the number of grafts of the perfluoro compound being such as to provide a lubricant which has an SUS viscosity at 100.degree. F. of at least 50 and a pour point of less than about -10.degree. C. is disclosed for use in compression refrigeration.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for combining a low melting binder fiber with a continuous filament base yarn to form a composite yarn having good bulk and a high level of interlace. More particularly, the process involves bulking a continuous filament yarn, combining it with the low-melting binder fiber, interlacing the combined yarn, and then fixing the interlace.
Abstract: A display and communication system includes display panels located at several locations which are separated from each other. Each panel has a matrix of plug-in modules and each module has lights and a switch device which can be operated to change which light on that module is illuminated, thereby indicating the status of a physical location, such as a table in a restaurant. The plug-in modules can be arranged on all of the panels to resemble the arrangement of the physical locations which are being represented. When the switch is operated to change the illumination of a light in a module, this change is communicated to all other panels, causing the counterpart modules in the other panels to exhibit the same illumination scheme.
Abstract: Peroxide-curable fluoroelastomers are prepared in the presence of iodinated compounds, with iodine bonding to a substantial number of terminal positions on the fluoroelastomer, and comprising up to 3 weight percent of bromine-containing units selected from fluoroolefins and perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ethers, and complementally at least 97 weight percent of either units of vinylidene fluoride, one or more fluoroolefins, and optionally perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ethers, or units of tetrafluoroethylene, perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ether, and ethylene. The resulting fluoroelastomers have improved processability, excellent strength and compression set properties, and are useful in the preparation of injection molded shaft seals, gaskets and other molded parts. The fluoroelastomer is prepared by a continuous emulsion polymerization process.
Abstract: A process for making a preform of fiber reinforced thermoplastic material, debulking the preform, subjecting the preform to heat and pressure to form a molded article, then subjecting the article to a predetermined quenching cycle that centralizes void location in the molded article.

Abstract: A seedling planter utilizes support wheels located on a main frame near the rear of the planter. The support wheels are pivotable relative to the frame, thereby allowing the force exerted by a set of intermediate packing wheels to be varied. The seedling planter was a novel planting assembly which incorporates two primary structural members; a first planting assembly piece or link which is connected to the frame, and a planting arm which is pivotally connected to the first piece. The first piece is movable to vary the height of the pivot axis about which the planting arm rotates. The planting assembly also includes a soil height level detection subsystem to automatically control downward extension of the first planting assembly piece. The planting arm is thus positioned at a desired predetermined height above the soil as it is rotated into the ground to provide consistent planting depth. A cam-operated seedling holder clamps the seedlings along the rear edge of the planting arm.
