Abstract: A barrier resin composition is disclosed is which contains 50 to 95 weight percent ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer having a melt flow of 0.1 to 100 g/10 minutes as measured at 210.degree. C. and 50 to 5 weight percent mica having a particle size of less than 74 microns and an aspect ratio of from 10 to 150. The composition can be prepared by melt blending a mixture of the ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer and the mica. Alternatively, the composition can be prepared by forming a dispersion of this mica in a solution of the ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer followed by precipitating the ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer.

The fixing frame comprises a metal base plate having a pattern of passages corresponding to said filter unit, and being provided at two opposite edges with upright sides which each merge into guide grooves for accomodation between them of said flat filter unit. The fixing frame being provided with spring-loaded contact elements for contacting the housing or shielding of a connector.
Abstract: X-ray intensifying screens that can be conveniently and easily used in book cassettes and automatic changer systems are described. These screens have an improved surface made by bonding a thin, clear, transparent, tough, flexible, dimensionally stable polyamide film thereon. The screens display a very low average dynamic coefficient of friction, very good resistant to wear (e.g., gouging and abrasion) and a low static susceptibly which permits long term use in book cassettes and rapid handling incurred in said changer systems.

Abstract: A direct printing technique for simulating the appearance streaks in fabrics includes the steps of obtaining a data set of yarn physical properties for each yarn in the fabric, programming a digital computer having graphics capability and pixel control of the graphics to average the yarn physical properties and calculating the pixel density from the individual yarn and yarn properties. The pixel density is then displayed as a series of rows of pixels wherein the number of pixels in each row is proportional to the individual yarn property of each yarn in the fabric. A simulation of the actual fabric appearance is obtained by just knowing the constituent yarn properties without having to make the actual fabric. Simulation parameters are confirmed by comparison of simulations with actual fabrics. Simulation parameters are confirmed by comparison of simulations with actual fabrics.

Abstract: A portable box comprises a box body including a bottom and a circumferential, upright wall defining at its upper rim an opening, a cover closing the opening as well as a handle means in form of a preferably hoop-shap=ed handle. The handle is pivotally hinged relative to the box body and the cover, a locking device being provided in the hinged area of said handle, where said locking device allows an opening or closing of the cover of the box body in a first portion of the turning movement of the handle and in other portions of said turning movement prevents an opening of the cover.
Abstract: The present invention will yield enhanced gain over a conventional antenna system by taking advantage of combining directional antennae. In one embodiment, the invention utilizes four 10 dB dipole, vertically-polarized, omni-directional antennae having a reflector added to each one to limit the horizontal beamwidth to 90.degree. and increase the gain to 16 dB. The vertical beamwidth remains at 7.degree.. By utilizing four of these antennae and utilizing power combining hybrids to connect each of the two opposed antennae together, excess gain over a 10 dB omni-directional system will be obtained. The effective antenna gain is equal to the directional antenna gain minus the omni-directional antenna gain minus the hybrid loss. Thus, the vertical beamwidth and physical height of the antenna are preserved with the increase in gain at the cost of a little antenna complexity.
