Abstract: A fluorinated cation exchange membrane made using reinforcement of oriented, hydrolyzed fabric of a cation exchange copolymer, the fabric having a coating of a melt-processible precursor or derivative of a fluorinated cation exchange resin on at least one surface or throughout.
Abstract: A floating current source comprising two identically sized field effect transistors, one defining a reference transistor and the other defining a floating output transistor. The reference transistor has its gate connected to a reference voltage and its source connected to receive an input current from an input current source and to generate a gate-to-source voltage which when applied as a gate-to-source voltage of the floating output transistor will generate an output current in the output transistor equal to the input current. Circuit means are included for applying between the gate and source of the output transistor a voltage equal to the gate-to-source drain voltage of the reference transistor.

Abstract: The invention comtemplates a process for the removal of a portion of the alcohol from a distilled spirit without destroying the organoleptic properties of the spirit. The process comprises passing a barrel strength feed stream through a permeable membrane at high pressures, splitting the feed into permeate and retentate components. The entire process occurs in one pass through the permeator system.
Abstract: A process for preparing hydrogen fluoride that involves treating anhydrous hydrogen fluoride containing primarily trivalent arsenic impurities with an iodine compound capable of providing iodide ions (e.g., HI) so as to precipitate the arsenic (i.e., as AsI.sub.3) following by separation and recovery (e.g., by distillation or filtration) or purified anhydrous hydrogen fluoride.
Abstract: Blends of a major portion of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) and a minor portion of an amorphous polyamide and preferably also a semicrystalline nylon are disclosed. These blends may be formed into films or multilayer structures, which can be thermoformed into containers or other articles. The presence of the minor portion of amorphous polyamide permits thermoforming of the EVOH at lower temperatures without the formation of defects.
Abstract: In order to so improve a portable machine tool, in particular, an angle grinder, with a drive, with a work spindle having a tool clamping means and with a securing device which is operable from outside an apparatus housing and by means of which the tool clamping means is transferable from a manually releasable position to a manually unreleasable position in which the tool is clamped--and vice versa--that with a design which is as simple as possible from a structural point of view, rotation of the work spindle is not possible while the tool clamping means is being released or manually tightened, it is proposed that a locking device for non-rotatably fixing the work spindle on the apparatus housing be provided and that the locking device automatically lock the work spindle in a non-rotatable manner when the drive is switched off and the securing device is i the position in which the tool clamping means is manually releasable--and vice versa.
Abstract: A weighted training vest device includes front and rear interconnected panels and made of a bendable resilient material. The front and rear panels include pocket-like recesses which selectively receive weights according to the desires of the user. The recesses include pressure sensitive fastening material which cooperatively mates with similar material affixed to the weights. The weights are rounded and beveled with no sharp corners or edges so that the surface of the panels of the vest is generally smooth.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing gel pieces is provided. The gel pieces are prepared from a cooked mixture comprising a thin-boiling starch as a gelling agent and a sweetener system comprising a high fructose corn syrup and a crystalline sweetener comprised of fructose. The cooked mixture is deposited in a plurality of molds and allowed to set to yield gel pieces which can then be packaged in bulk. The use of high fructose corn syrup and a crystalline fructose sweetener yields gel pieces which have excellent resistance to adhesion to hard surface molds and/or one another when packaged in bulk even over a long period of time at elevated storage temperatures.
Abstract: A machine for shaking Christmas trees to remove loose needles therefrom. The machine includes a frustoconical holder for receiving the trunk of the tree and adapted to be orbited by a power-rotated shaft in order to shake the tree. A flexible belt is connected between the holder and the housing of the machine in order to prevent the holder from spinning about its own axis as it orbits. The holder is inclined upwardly from horizontal to facilitate loading of the tree into the holder, to reduce the effort required to retain the tree in the holder during shaking and to avoid burying of the machine with needles. A guard shields the holder to help protect against injury and also serves as a cradle to support the tree prior to loading of the tree into the holder. The machine may be converted for driving by the power take-off of a tractor or for driving by an electric motor.

Abstract: A collapsible clothes hanger molded in one piece of a flexible material has a pair of hanger arms which are moved from a collapsed position to an extended position by one hand exerting s squeezing force on the flexible connections between the pair of hanger arms and a pair of flexible links that extend between the hanger arms and a center support member. The bendable links, whose motion is restricted by the center support member, fold upon themselves and draw the hanger arms upward into the extended position. The squeezing force which moves the hanger arms into the extended position lies in a horizontal plane so that the hand of the user can remain in a natural position during extension of the arms to a desired garment-supporting position. The hanger of a preferred embodiment is automatically locked in the extended position once this position is reached. The lock is released by again a single hand exerting a squeezing force, also in a horizontal plane, so that the hanger arms may move the collapsed position.
Abstract: A foamed thermoplastic elastomer having a substantially uniform closed cell structure and having a specific gravity of less than about 0l.40, an energy return ratio greater than about 0.50 when compressed and released said foam being prepared from a thermoplastic multi-block copolymer elastomer having a Shore D hardness of 25-75.
Abstract: A coating composition which cures at ambient temperatures and contains 20-80% by weight of a binder and 80-20% by weight of a solvent for the binder, wherein the binder contains about:A. an acrylic polymer A of polymerized monomers of methyl methacrylate and monomers of styrene, alkyl methacrylate and/or alkyl acrylate each having 2-12 carbon atoms in the alkyl group and said polymer having pending from the polymer backbone aminoester groups, hydroxy aminoester groups or hydroxyamine groups,B. an acrylic crosslinking polymer B of polymerized monomers of at least 3% by weight, based on the weight of the crosslinking polymer, of a glycidyl constituent of glycidyl methacrylate or acrylate and the remainder of the monomers are alkyl methacrylate an acrylate each having 1-12 carbon atoms in the alkyl group and optionally contains at least 3% by weight, based on the weight of the crosslinking polymer, of an alkyl methacrylate or acrylate having a pendent group of the formula ##STR1## C.
