  • Patent number: 4825111
Abstract: A system for propelling individual carriages along an endless path from a first speed abutted in a stack in a carriage collection section, to a second speed spaced apart in an operational section, and to a third speed in a stack-forming section where the carriages return to the first speed in the stack. Novel carriages are propelled by a linear motor wherein each carriage has attached a synchronous and a hysteresis secondary. A first primary positioned adjacent one part of the path develops electromagnetic waves for engaging the synchronous secondaries to provide controlled spacing of the carriages, and a second primary adjacent another part of the path develops other electromagnetic waves for engaging the hysteresis secondaries to provide controlled abutting of the carriages.

  • Patent number: 4821609
Abstract: A shingle cutting tool for cutting portions of shingles from an existing shingled roof. The tool is adapted for pushing or pulling action while the user is in an upright position, and includes one or more V-shaped cutting notches formed in the end of a generally rectangular steel plate, the cutting notch forming a lifting lip that is used to pry a shingle upwardly into a position so that it can be cut. The tool is pushed along or pulled along the roof surface so that the respective shingle tabs enter the V-shaped cutting notch to permit the tabs to be severed from the existing roof.

  • Patent number: 4821427
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing the moisture content of wet yarns are disclosed. Wet yarn is supplied to a pair of internally heated drier rolls which contact and spirally advance the yarn along the rolls to progressively dry the yarn. Heat is supplied to the rolls at a rate in excess of that necessary to reduce the moisture content to a predetermined level. Water is sprayed on areas of the rolls not in contact with the yarn to cool the contact surfaces. The moisture content of the yarn is measured subsequently to discharge and a signal is produced which corresponds to the moisture content. In order to achieve a desired moisture content, the spraying of water is controlled in response to the signal produced by measuring the moisture content so that the yarn discharged from the rolls approaches the predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 4822897
Abstract: Polyfluoro .gamma.-ketoester compounds are obtained by reaction of ethylenic monoolefins, a metal or quaternary ammonium cyanide, and a fluoroester. These compounds, which have a general formula R.sub.F C(O)CFYCF.sub.2 CO.sub.2 R.sup.1, can be copolymerized directly with fluorinated ethylenic monoolefins, or further reacted to form vinyl ether and allyl ether derivatives which may also be copolymerized with ethylenic comonomers, forming solid, moldable copolymers with useful properties determined by the nature of pendant functional groups R.sub.F.

  • Patent number: 4823307
Abstract: The control unit detects the errors concurrently with normal microinstruction execution through suitable internal checking circuits and a determined microinstruction allocation in the memory. Microinstructions comprise additional fields (CS, FS) carrying the encoding, in Modified Berger code, of the allocation address of the microinstruction itself and of the following one. The microinstructions of destination of conditional jumps are allocated so that their codes are related to each other by simple logic relationships which are then reproduced by an internal circuit (CSM). The two fields, the one of the next microinstruction being duly delayed, are then compared and possible differences represent unidirectional and incorrect sequencing errors. The other errors are detected through particular implementations of some internal circuits (STK1, INC1) and duplication of others (RCT, SEL).

  • Patent number: 4820450
Abstract: A method and cleaning composition are the subject of the invention. The cleaning composition may take the form of an aqueous solution, a powder, or a concentrated powder or aqueous solution for addition to a cleaning solution. The additive includes an amine or polyacrylamide flocculant and a betaine stabilizer. When used in a detergent solution, the flocculant causes contaminates introduced into the water to precipitate and quickly settle to the bottom of the cleaning bucket. This keeps the upper part of the detergent solution clean and prevents the mop from picking up and subsequently redepositing the contaminates each time it is dipped in the bucket.
