Abstract: A connector for a multi-conductor cable provides for connecting conductors arranged in different conductive patterns by means of a terminal array that is arranged in predetermined patterns by blanking out terminals from strips to produce multiple styles of terminals that provide for mechanical and welding terminations of the conductor within the terminal array.
Abstract: A process for producing ethanol or fermented beverages such as beer or wine wherein a suitable fermentable substrate (e.g., brewers wort, must) is contacted in a batch process with particles comprised of yeast cells encapsulated or immobilized within an insoluble, porous, semi-permeable matrix material at conditions effective for fermentation and maturation. The process employs means for maintaining efficient contact of substrate and yeast-containing particles.

Abstract: N,N-dimethyl-2-(aminosulfonyl)-3-pyridine carboxamides are useful as agricultural chemicals. In particular, the compounds are useful as herbicides which show significant herbicidal activity on grasses and yet have the unexpected property of being safe to corn.
Abstract: A protective coating of finely divided abrasion resistant inerts carried in a corrosion resistant resin is diluted with a solvent and applied to a surface. The applied coating is cured to achieve either a single layer of inerts dispersed in the resin or two layers including a dense layer of inerts in resin covered by a thin layer of resin.
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for stringing up or re-stringing a balanced ply-twisted combination yarn of two components to insure strong piecing-up points. The end of the combination yarn and the end of a continuous filament yarn, which becomes a component of the combination yarn, are both prepared for piecing and inserted into the rotor of an open-end spinning device. Upon start up, the combination yarn engages staple fibers in the rotor consolidating groove while the continuous filament yarn engages the combination yarn within the rotor without any contact of the continuous filament yarn with the rotor consolidating groove.

Abstract: An hepatobiliary imaging agent is disclosed which is a neutral complex of Tc-99m, a complexing ion, SO.sub.2, and a mono or polydentate organic ligand having one or more donor atoms for complexing with TC-99m to form the neutral complex.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing fine line, high density multiple layer printed circuit board packages are disclosed. In the method for fabricating multiple layer printed circuit board package, a printed circuit board is formed having a conductive circuit pattern embedded in and integral with an insulator materil substrate, such that the surface of the conductive circuit pattern is exposed along one surface of the substrate, and lays flush and coplanar with therewith. At least two of said boards are stacked with a layer of insulator material interposed between each pair of adjacent boards. The entire assembly is heat-pressed together to form a homogenous block of insulator material having conductive circuit patterns embedded and integrally molded therein.
Abstract: The object of the invention is an automatic servo-controlled valve with high speed opening wherein the shutter is a hinged cover (20). Suitable locking means (30, 50) keep the cover (20) in a locked position up to the time when the pressure difference on the two faces of the cover exceeds a pre-determined minimum level. After the said locking means have moved to an open position, an actuator (40) operates the opening of the said cover at high speed (FIG. 1).

Abstract: A plug and receptacle combination having a compact configuration includes a plug having a slot for receiving a raised key-like projection on the receptacle to effect a polarization function and a flush-mount latch co-aligned with the slot to resiliently engage an opening in the projection to releasably latch the plug into engagement with the receptacle. The receptacle is designed to be telescopically received within the end of the plug to provide a high degree of shielding integrity. The plug is assembled from upper and lower half-shells that retain a connection block containing contacts of a first type, and the receptacle is defined by inter-engaging inner and outer shells which retain a connection block containing contacts of a second type for inter-engaging the contacts of the first type. A resilient spring is provided on the receptacle on the side opposite the raised key-like projection to assist in maintaining the plug and receptacle in mechanical and electrical engagement with one another.
Abstract: A hermetically sealed low pressure, low temperature cooling system for internal combustion engines which include a thermostat that operates at a predetermined temperature, typically 195.degree. F. Thermostatic control of engine operation temperature is maintained at or in relatively close proximity to this predetermined temperature thereby eliminating overheating and corrosive deterioration of the cooling system. Free coolant flow between the radiator and a small expansion reservoir is maintained at all times with the expansion reservoir being integral with and located on the top portion of the radiator and to the side of a radiator filling neck also located thereat. The filling neck is provided with a transparent viewing cap so that the level of liquid coolant can be observed at all times.
Abstract: The preparation of linear dicarboxylic acids, e.g., adipic acid, by hydrocarboxylating unsaturated monocarboxylic acids, e.g., 3-pentenoic acid, with carbon monoxide and water in the presence of a rhodium-containing catalyst, an iodide promoter and certain inert halocarbon solvents, e.g., methylene chloride.
Abstract: A process for the production of carboxylic acids by the hydrocarboxylation of olefinically unsaturated alkenes or esters using a rhodium catalyst, an iodide promoter, a solvent selected from the class consisting of methylene chloride, 1,2-dichloroethane, and C.sub.6 to C.sub.9 aromatic solvents, and an accelerator which is an acid having a pKa in the range of 4.2 to 5.2.
Abstract: An electromechanical apparatus for handling and tilting hollow cylindrical bodies (R) such as reels of sheet metal, comprising a rotational clamp (31) having two jaws (32 and 33) which hold, by a nut (36) travelling along a rotating screw (35) driven by a motor (34), the external and internal walls respectively of the cylindrical body (R). The rotating clamp is connected to a crane hooking device by a support (20, 20') moving along a guide (30) provided on the rotating clamp body (31). The hold on the internal wall of the body (R) takes place only along a portion of it, and a device (13, 38b, 37, 38; 40) is provided to compensate the reduction in the holding force produced during the rotation of the hollow cylindrical body (R), namely, the compensating means (13, 38b, 37, 38; 40) causes an additional movement of the rotating screw (35) in a direction to move the jaws closer together.
Abstract: A receptacle for a carrying a vessel therein is provided with abutments that engage against the vessel itself or against a shield that receives the vessel to prevent relative motion of the vessel with respect to the receptacle as a torque is applied to the cap of the vessel.
Abstract: A cold process fruit filling for pastry and bakery products is prepared ug two different starch components. The first starch component is a cold water swelling granular starch, while the second starch component is a pregelatinized starch. Such a combination of starches provided a means to produce a fruit filling without heating. The filling possesses heat stability to maintain the desired properties when the bakery product containing the filling is cooked.
