  • Patent number: 4458588
Abstract: A dumping transport vehicle for harvested cotton bolls has the capacity to receive in its basket body two dumps from a large self-propelled harvester. An internal power-operated pivoted packer-divider panel of the vehicle enables compacting of the first dump received from the harvester against the dump-out side of the vehicle basket so that the second dump from the harvester can be adequately received in the vehicle basket. The packer-divider panel also enables a two-stage dumping of the contents of the fully loaded vehicle basket into a module builder which is unable to handle and pack the entire volume of harvested cotton in the vehicle basket in a single delivery or dump.

  • Patent number: 4457485
Abstract: The outline of a wall hanging object is cut out of a flexible sheet of material to form a transfer blank adapted to be positioned on a wall surface and adhesively held thereon at a desired location. The hanging point on the object is located and transferred to the transfer blank by a marking tool. The hanger device for the object is nailed to the wall surface through the transfer blank at the hanging point marked thereon, after which the transfer blank is removed.

  • Patent number: 4457797
Abstract: Reinforced poly(ethylene terephthalate) sheets are thermoformed to articles having one or more surfaces in contact with the mold of such a degree of smoothness that they virtually completely replicate the mold face. When the mold face is completely smooth, the concave imperfections caused by air entrapment in the plastic material account for less than 6% of the surface area. Composite articles consisting of a face member and a backing member are made by thermoforming in a single mold a face member having one or more surfaces in contact with the mold face of such a degree of smoothness that it completely replicates the mold face, and its proportion of concave imperfections is less than about 6% of the surface area. The backing member is bonded in the mold with an adhesive to the face member, and the composite structure is allowed to remain in the mold for a sufficient time to permit subsequent removal without distortion.

  • Patent number: 4457754
Abstract: A multi-purpose securement strip for anchoring tubing, monitor lines and the like on a body portion of a patient. The securement strip comprises an elongated base strip of flexible material having on its underside an adhesive coating for attachment of the base strip to the patient's skin. An elongated, flexible cover strip is provided, having a first portion (including an end of the cover strip) permanently affixed to the upper surface of the base strip. The cover strip has a second portion releasably adherable to the upper surface of the base strip such that one or more tubes, monitor lines or the like can be so located as to overlie the upper surface of the base strip, transversely of the long axis of the base strip, and can be adjustably and releasably held in position on the base strip by the second portion of the flexible cover strip.

  • Patent number: 4458195
Abstract: A full wave rectifier regulator for an alternator battery charging system has gate controlled rectifier connected in two separate branches of the rectifier bridge. The gates of the rectifiers are connected to the anode-cathode circuit of a third gate controlled rectifier (SCR) and are thereby selectively turned "on" and "off" by the current flow in the anode-cathode path of the SCR. A portion of the alternator output voltage triggers the SCR to its conductive mode whenever the battery voltage is between predetermined voltage levels. A protection circuit comprising an electronic switching component is connected to the gate of the SCR to shunt off any gate triggering current to hold the SCR "off". The switching component is connected to sense the battery voltage and to clamp "off" the SCR should its voltage either be lower or higher than the predetermined levels.

  • Patent number: 4457013
Abstract: A digital transcoding unit receiving incoming PCM-coded speech and data samples to be distributed after selective quantization to different outgoing channels, with fewer quantizing bits assigned to speech samples than to data samples, includes a discriminator distinguishing among speech samples, high-rate data samples and low-rate data samples on the basis of bandwidth and number of zero crossings. Low-rate data samples are directed by the discriminator to outgoing speech channels, rather than data channels, for more efficient transmission-line utilization.

  • Patent number: 4455852
Abstract: Shapes with circular corrugations are produced by spinning a sheet metal blank under the action of oppositely directed deforming and backing forces. The blank is given the configuration of an envelope of revolution with a continuously diverging flare and is secured at the end nearest to the geometrical apex of the flare, and the circular corrugations are formed sequentially from the smaller towards the larger diameter by applying a concentrated deforming force to the inside surface of the blank, the deforming force being directed along the blank axis.

  • Patent number: 4456145
Abstract: A weatherproof outlet cover is composed of a metal cover plate having an aperture, a generally U-shaped bracket secured to the plate adjacent the aperture and an aperture cover for covering the aperture. The aperture cover includes a main body which is shaped to cover the plate aperture and an extension which fits between the bracket legs. Hinge posts projecting from the sides of the extension hingedly connect the aperture cover to the bracket legs so that the cover can swing toward and away from the plate. The aperture cover extension also defines a pocket which is open at the underside of the aperture cover and in which a coiled wire spring is positioned on the hinge axis.
