Abstract: Disclosed is a magnetic developing unit having a decorator for applying magnetic toner to a latent magnetic image in a downwardly moving magnetic imaging member. Preferably the imaging member is in the surface of a cylinder and the decorator is at the 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock position. The decorator comprises a housing containing a lower toner supply and background cleaner roll, an intermediate toner transfer roll and an upper toner decorator roll. Each of the rolls comprises a rotating non-magnetic sleeve and a plurality of elongated internal magnets which alternate in polarity adjacent the rotating sleeve and their relative positions are adjustable.
Abstract: Para-nitrobenzotrichloride is prepared by chlorinating nitrotoluene using an activated carbon catalyst. The process can use various cocatalysts such as bromine, iodine, PCl.sub.3, S.sub.2 Cl.sub.2, bromide salts, chloranil, air bubbles and phthalimide. The reaction is carried out at from 20.degree. C., to 220.degree. C., with from 150.degree. to 200.degree. C. being the preferred range and a pressure of 1 to 5 Atm.
Abstract: A connector for joining structural components which may be subjected to bending, shear, tensional and/or torsional forces at the joint is comprised of a fixture member spanning the joint between the structural components for coupling the same along a longitudinal connector axis generally normal to the joint, socket members disposed within each of the components to be joined and through which the fixture member passes, the sockets defining a shear pocket configured to receive a resilient shear cushion. The fixture member is preferably a compressive fixture member and includes resilient compression cushion members disposed intermediate the length thereof outwardly proximate the shear pocket and inwardly proximate adjustable compression members for establishing a compressive force across the joint. A bending cushion may be disposed at the joint between the structural components.
Abstract: Process for preparation of printed circuits by applying particulate metal to tacky image areas, optionally removing excess particulate metal, and contacting the metallized image areas with an aqueous solution comprising cations of a plating metal to accomplish a metal-metal ion displacement reaction, the solution being substantially free of any chemical reducing agent for said cations. Preferably the conductive circuit is electroplated or soldered.
Abstract: The description covers temperature stabilized resonant microwave cavities not requiring hermetic sealing and easy to be frequency adjusted. Essentially, they consist of a pure quartz body with a metallized surface, except for small superficial areas used for the couplings.

Abstract: A process is provided for making a liquid composition of a perfluorinated polymer having sulfonic acid or sulfonate groups in a liquid medium by contacting the polymer with a mixture of 25 to 100% by weight of water and 0 to 75% by weight of a second liquid component such as a lower alcohol, e.g., propanol or methanol, at a temperature of at least 180.degree. C. (at least 240.degree. C. when about 90% to 100% water is used), in a closed system. The liquid composition made by this process, or modified liquid products prepared therefrom, are used in coating various substrates, in casting films, and in repairing perfluorinated ion exchange films and membranes. The process is also useful in recovering perfluorinated polymer having sulfonic acid or sulfonate groups from scraps and used articles made of such polymer or containing such polymer as a component part thereof.
Abstract: Photopolymerizable compositions comprising (a) at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound, (b) at least one photoinitiator or photoinitiator system, (c) sensitizing amount of an N-alkylindolylidene or N-alkylbenzothiazolylidene alkanone as defined, and optionally (d) at least one organic polymeric binder. The compositions, in layer form are useful in printing plates, litho films, photoresists, solder mask and for making image proofs. The products show sensitization to visible light.
