Abstract: There is described an apparatus for making metal oxide particles which are substantially free of coarse tail from an oxidizing agent and a metal reactant in a flow reactor. The apparatus can be a concentric tubular flow reactor comprising a substantially funnel-shaped reactant contacting region located adjacent to a reaction zone which is able to direct a flow of a hot oxidizing agent towards a flow of the metal reactant to form a reaction stream which flows downstream into a reaction zone, whereby the hot oxidizing agent of the reaction stream is able to surround the flow of metal reactant sufficient to prevent the metal reactant from contacting the wall of the reactant contacting region and forming scale on the wall.

Abstract: A goniophotometer includes two independent towers: a main support tower and an upright mirror tower. A swing arm is connected to the main support tower and can be rotated around a main horizontal axis. An elliptic flat rotation mirror, a first detector and a second detector are fixed to the swing arm. A test light source that is also connected to the main support tower can be rotated around a vertical axis. An upright round mirror is connected to the upright mirror tower. A far-field measurement can be achieved when a light beam from the test light source travels into the rotation mirror then is reflected to the upright mirror, and then is reflected by the upright mirror to the first detector. A near field measurement is achieved when the second detector receives a test light beam directly form the test light source.

Abstract: A process for manufacturing an electric cable. In particular, the process includes the steps of: a) feeding a conductor at a predetermined feeding speed; b) extruding a thermoplastic insulating layer in a position radially external to the conductor; c) cooling the extruded insulating layer; and d) forming a circumferentially closed metal shield around the extruded insulating layer. The process may be carried out continuously, i.e., the time occurring between the end of the cooling step and the beginning of the shield forming step is inversely proportional to the feeding speed of the conductor.
