  • Patent number: 7115798
Abstract: This invention relates to constructs for the conditional or regulated expression of transgenes in plants using site-specific recombinase systems. The constructs comprise a variety of constitutive, inducible, tissue specific or developmental stage-specific promoters operably linked to either a transgene or the elements of one or more site-specific recombinase system. By matching promoters, responsive to various inducers, plant tissues or plant developmental states with the recombinase systems, stop fragments and transgenes, virtually any trait may be expressed at any plant development stage or in any plant generation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring for Red Fail faults in a traffic signal control system. Traffic control signals generated by a traffic control unit are grouped into channels. A parent-child relationship is established between some channels. When testing for a Red Fail fault, the control signals in both the parent channel and the child channel are examined. A Red Fail fault will occur only if all the control signals examined in both the parent and the child channel are inactive. The control signals examined in the child channel can be limited to the Green and Walk signals; or may include the Yellow signals.

  • Patent number: 7108711
Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting an electronic implantable medical device prior to it being implanted in a patient's body. The apparatus affords protection against electronic component damage due to electrostatic discharge and/or physical damage due to improper handling. The apparatus is comprised of a circuit board having a conductive surface for receiving and releasably grasping the electrodes of the medical device to support the device's housing proximate to the surface of the circuit board. Two conductive paths are formed on the circuit board extending between two conductive surfaces for shunting electrostatic discharge currents to prevent such currents from passing through the device's electronic circuitry. The conductive paths include oppositely oriented diodes, preferably comprising diodes which emit light (i.e., LEDs) when current passes therethrough. Additionally, an external monitor/generator is provided to enable functional testing of the medical device.
