Abstract: A continuous process for the production of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) is disclosed. According to the process, a liquid feed mixture comprising bis-3-hydroxypropyl terephthalate and/or low molecular weight polyesters of 1,3-propanediol and terephthalic acid, the liquid feed mixture having a mole ratio of propylene groups to terephthalate groups of 1.1 to 2.2 is fed to a flasher. A first stream of gaseous by-products is continuously vaporized and removed from the flasher, and a liquid flasher reaction product having a mole ratio of propylene groups to terephthalate groups of less than about 1.5 is continuously withdrawn from the flasher. The liquid flasher reaction product is continuously fed to a prepolymerizer where it is continuously polymerized to form a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) prepolymer and a second stream of gaseous by-products.

Abstract: A bearing mounting system and method that reduces vibration using a singular annular elastomeric member contained in a substantially enclosed area that includes open area free of elastomeric material. A bearing raceway surface and an adjacent support surface are spaced apart by a predetermined radial gap. The enclosed cross-sectional area is bounded by features on the bearing raceway surface and the supporting surface that could be either the rotating roll or a support shaft. The enclosed area has a depth and a width and includes the radial gap. The viscoelastic deformation of the elastomeric member contained in this enclosed area in conjunction with the amount of open area in the enclosed area, provides a dual stiffness system that reduces or eliminates the excessive vibration that occurs in chucks for textile fiber windups or similar systems, when there is relative movement to reduce the radial gap and the enclosed area containing the radial gap.

Abstract: A process for preparing weather-resistant powder coatings on metallic or non-metallic surfaces by applying a powder coating composition and then melting and curing, wherein a powder coating composition is applied which contains polyester resins in which the acid structural blocks are based only or mainly on aromatic dicarboxylic acids, their anhydrides and/or esters, and polyfunctional low molecular weight epoxides as cross-linking agents, and the melting and curing is performed by NIR radiation.
Abstract: An aqueous developer for photopolymerizable, flexographic printing plates containing an ethylenediamine triacetate-N-alkylacetamide having a long-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon radical in the N-alkylamido group and a process for preparing flexographic printing forms by the use of this developer are described.
Abstract: The invention provides a first process for addressing an electro-optic material having first and second display states differing in at least one optical characteristic and being capable of being changed from its first to its second display state by application of an electric field to the material, the process comprising applying an electrically charged fluid to a portion of at least one surface of the material, thereby changing the display state of a portion of the material. The invention also provides a second process for addressing an electro-optic material, this process comprising contacting the electro-optic material with a non-conductive brush means wet with a conductive liquid while applying a potential difference between the brush means and the electro-optic material.

Abstract: In an artificial magnetic conductor, the distance between the frequency selective surface and the ground plane is mechanically varied to adjust the effective inductance or capacitance of the structure and thus the resonant frequency of the device.
Abstract: An improved detachable conference telephone and particularly a structure allowing microphone seats to detach and separate from the conference telephone main body. The structure mainly includes a conference telephone main body to couple with a plurality of microphone seats linking by wire reels. When using in conferences, users may detach the microphone seats from the main body and move the microphone seats closely to input audio voice so that poor audio transmission resulting from distant conference telephone may be prevented from happening.
Abstract: A telephone dialing apparatus capable of directly downloading electronic telephone directory from a mobile phone subscriber identity module (SIM) card to provide a telephone dialing function for different telephone systems use comprises a SIM card socket, a SIM card reader, a control unit, a memory unit, a dialing unit, a human-machine interface, an alarm unit and an information processing unit. The apparatus allows users free from repeatedly entering the electronic telephone directory. More than one telephone systems are allowed to utilize the mobile phone electronic telephone directory to perform dialing operations.
Abstract: A speech apparatus linking to a car stereo system allows users getting immediate reminding responses in an audio speech fashion when operating the car stereo (such as notifying the identity of the CD or radio station being selected) to free users from repetitive trying or confirming. The apparatus consists of a speech recording and playback unit, a speech recorder, a reminder recorder, a second audio selection unit, an audio mixer, a microphone, a first audio processing unit and a second audio processing unit. When linking to the car stereo system, the apparatus provides an user-friendly and convenient operation for the car stereo system.
Abstract: A layered composite is disclosed having improved resistance to penetration by knives and knife blades. The layers of fabric in the composite are woven with low fabric tightness; and, are arranged in the composite free to move relative to one another.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a comfortable cut resistant fabric wherein metal fibers in the fabric are shielded from abrasive exposure by being wrapped with cut resistant staple fibers.
