Abstract: Provided is a plasma display apparatus. The apparatus includes a plasma display panel having a plurality of discharge cells, and time-division driven by dividing a unit frame into a plurality of subfields, and a driver for supplying a reset signal for initializing the plurality of discharge cells to a scan electrode of the panel in a reset period. The driver supplies gradually rising setup signals to the scan electrode in reset periods of the plurality of subfields. An average slope of the setup signal supplied in a first subfield among the plurality of subfields is different from an average slope of the setup signal supplied in a second subfield.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of selecting a transmission antenna in a radio communication system. The present invention includes the steps of transmitting data through a sequentially selected antenna and if error occurs in the transmitted data, retransmitting corresponding erroneous data. Therefore, present invention presumes what channel state of antennas is better based on the response signal (ACK or NACK) of the reception party and then transmits data through the presumed antenna, thereby enabling to improve transmission performance more.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an antistatic component and a method of manufacturing the same. An antistatic component of the present invention comprises buttons each of which includes a push portion 11 or 11? formed at one end of the button and made of a first resin and a switch contact 13 or 13? formed at the other end of the button and made of a second resin; and an elastically-deformable connection portion 15 formed integrally with the switch contact 13 or 13? so as to connect the plurality of buttons to one another. The first resin comprises a plating material and the second resin comprises a non-plating material. Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) is described. The GUI includes first GUI elements that provide a visual representation of the nodes of an audio/video device. In response to user input, a signal is caused to be routed between nodes by manipulating circuitry within the audio/video device. Second GUI elements provide a visual representation of the signals being routed within the electronic device between pairs of first GUI elements (e.g., between nodes). As a result, the user can readily understand which nodes are connected to each other. Thus, for example, a user can easily visualize which source node is providing input to a target node and, by selecting the appropriate GUI elements, can just as easily switch from one source to another or from one target to another.

Abstract: A channel equalizer includes an overlap unit, an estimator, a calculator, a compensator, and a save unit. The overlap unit overlaps a group of data packets in a broadcast signal. The group data packets include a head, a body, and a tail, and a known data sequence is periodically included in the body. The estimator estimates a CIR of each data region the body using the known data sequence, and it further estimates CIRs of data regions in the head or tail using the CIRs obtained for the data regions in the body. The calculator calculates equalization coefficients based on the CIRs estimated by the estimator, and the compensator compensates channel distortion of the overlapped data using the equalization coefficients. The save unit saves the compensated data.

Abstract: A system and method of multi-directional projection in which the optical output from a projector is modified in response to characteristics of nearby surfaces, upon which projection can be directed. The multi-directional projection system can provide beneficial output as a primary indicator or a secondary indicating device that can be controlled by itself or synchronously with other devices, such as output from a computer monitor. One implementation incorporates an optical sensor coupled to the projector for registering object characteristics (e.g., distance, reflectance, texture, color, and ambient lighting), such as during a mapping operation performed across the pan and tilt range of the projector. The projection system preferably incorporates a focusing assembly and may include other controllable optical elements such as zoom. Control is preferably provided through commands within an application programming interface (API), such as executing on a personal computer or other form of computer device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to editing data streams recorded in a recording medium. At the time of deleting an arbitrary navigation unit from a data stream partitioned by the navigation units and recorded in a recording medium, information is recorded in the recording medium, which, in a recording block including both remaining data belonging to the deleted navigation unit and valid data belonging to the navigation unit right before the deleted navigation unit, the information is used for distinguishing the valid data from the remaining data. By referring to the information afterwards, the remaining data can be prevented from being decoded.

Abstract: A method of processing an audio signal is disclosed. The present invention includes receiving, by an audio processing apparatus, an input signal; extracting a low frequency signal, a mid frequency signal and a high frequency signal from the input signal; obtaining at least one of a low-band gain and a harmonic control factor, based on a loudspeaker characteristic; obtaining mid-band gain based on the loudspeaker characteristic; generating a modified low frequency signal by applying the low-band gain to the low frequency signal; when the harmonic control factor is obtained, generating a harmonic signal from the modified low frequency signal using the harmonic control factor, generating a modified mid frequency signal by applying the mid-band gain to the mid frequency signal; and, generating a mixed signal by mixing the modified mid frequency signal, the high frequency signal, and at least one of the modified low frequency signal and the harmonic signal.
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for enhancing the security of information by decoupling the user authentication from the data storage and access. User information, stored by a service provider, is encrypted using a hashed password and access to the encrypted user information is protected by a separate access control server. The access control server and service provider may be provided a uniquely hashed first and second password, respectively. The access control server uses the first hashed password to allow the user access to the service provider, and the service provider then decrypts the user information using the second hashed password. The system ensures that even if the malicious user manages to compromise either the service provider or the access control server the malicious user would remain unable to decrypt and access any stored user information.
