Patent number: 5708964Abstract: A satellite receiver includes a signal acquisition unit that is operative to receive a validation signal from a station controller located at a paging station. The satellite receiver is operative to lock onto a satellite signal. When the satellite receiver locks onto a satellite signal, the satellite receiver demodulates the satellite signal into a digital data stream that is forwarded to the station controller for packaging and retransmission as a page. The station controller includes circuitry to determine if the digital data stream is correct and intended for the station controller. If the digital data stream is correct, the station controller generates a validation signal and forwards the validation signal to the signal acquisition unit of the satellite receiver. If the digital data stream is incorrect, the station controller will forward a negative validation signal to the signal acquisition unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1995Date of Patent: January 13, 1998Assignee: Glenayre Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Eric A. Patent number: 5708567Abstract: A BGA (ball grid array) semiconductor package with a ring-type heat sink is disclosed. In the above package, the heat dissipating area is enlarged by extending the edge of a chip mounting die paddle formed of a copper or copper alloy layer to the outside of the package. The ring-type heat sink is attached to the extended portion of the die paddle such that the heat sink surrounds the encapsulant of the package. The above BGA package thus directly and effectively dissipates the chip's heat through the heat sink with high thermal conductivity. A plurality of plated through holes may be formed on the chip mounting portion of the PCB of the above package. The BGA package with both the ring-type heat sink and the PTHs, the heat dissipating effect of the package is further improved.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1996Date of Patent: January 13, 1998Assignees: Anam Industrial Co., Ltd., Amkor Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Il Kwon Shim, Young Wook Heo

Patent number: 5703445Abstract: In a vertical sawtooth generator, an end time of a retrace portion of a vertical sawtooth signal is controlled by an output signal of a comparator. The comparator has a first input terminal that is responsive to a reference voltage and a second input terminal that is responsive to the sawtooth signal. The reference voltage is coupled to an input terminal of an amplifier of an integrator that generates the sawtooth signal. Any disturbance signal component in the reference voltage is super-imposed on the sawtooth signal.
