  • Patent number: 5606145
Abstract: An improved code changing method for an electronic musical instrument with an automatic accompaniment function allows a chord code change during a play in accordance with a tone of an musical instrument being used in the current accompaniment just before a new code representing a new chord is inputted for the next music play. The method includes judging the possibility of a slur processing by recognizing a tone being used in the automatic accompaniment when the new code information is inputted, performing the slur processing when the slur processing is judged to be possible, and performing a retriggering process or an automatic accompaniment by neglecting the new code information, when the slur processing is judged to be impossible.

  • Patent number: 5606443
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a demonstration of home entertainment audio and/or video equipment. Upon receipt of a start signal from a switch, control signals are transmitted via infrared transmitter to the equipment being demonstrated. The infrared signals are identical to those which would be sent from a remote control unit (or may be signals sent through hard-wired connections). The infrared signals turn on power to the equipment, properly configure the equipment, adjust volume level and other parameters, and program the equipment to present the demonstration.

  • Patent number: 5604425
Abstract: A source of an input supply voltage is coupled via a current limiting resistor to a load. A diode has a first terminal that is coupled to a junction terminal between the resistor and the load. A second terminal of the diode is coupled to an output of a regulated power supply where a regulated supply voltage is developed. The diode clamps a second output supply voltage developed at the first terminal of the diode to the regulated supply voltage. When the power in the load exceeds a predetermined value, the diode ceases conducting. In this way, the conductor that couples the second output supply voltage to the load need not meet the strict 15 watt node spacing requirements.

  • Patent number: 5602899
Abstract: An anode assembly for generating x-rays has a mounting block with a channel therethrough, with a diamond wafer mounted sealingly across an opening in the block so as to have an inner surface in contact with the coolant flowing in the channel. Alternatively, a thicker diamond member is mounted in the block with thermal conduction through the metal block. A metal anode film bonded to the outer surface of the diamond is receptive of a focused electron beam to generate x-rays. The diamond provides cooling in compensation for the film being heated by the electron beam. The assembly is useful in a scanning x-ray monochromator instrument for chemical analysis of a specimen surface.

  • Patent number: 5600756
Abstract: A method of labelling digital audio data corresponding to recorded audio ("takes"). According to this method speech recognition software is employed to generate text based on a portion of the recorded audio data. The generated text is then associated with the audio data file, thereby labelling the file based on its content. According to this technique, the need for monitoring and manual entry of text data in labelling takes is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5600381
Abstract: A television receiver includes a scan velocity modulation circuit. An amplitude correction circuit couples vertical and horizontal parabola signals to the scan velocity modulation circuit so as to vary scan velocity modulation with displacement of beam position from the center of the screen. The parabola signals may be derived from a pincushion correction circuit of the television receiver, for example, from a diode modulator. The position-indicating parabolas may control amplifier gain within the scan velocity modulation circuit, output level limiting, or the amplitude of the differentiated luminance signal applied to the amplifier to provide scan velocity modulation reduction away from screen center.
