Patent number: 5636288Abstract: A power supply circuit arrangement for electrical equipment, such as a loudspeaker with an integral power amplifier, which can be switched between an operational mode and a standby mode in response to a detected on/off signal, provides a desirable isolation of the main supply voltage from the detector. The arrangement comprises a transformer, having a primary winding and a secondary winding, and a switched impedance device between the transformer and the power supply input. The switched impedance device is switchable between high and low impedance states in response to the detected on/off signal. A control circuit for detecting the on/off signal and switching the variable impedance states is connected in common with a main circuit of the equipment to the secondary winding of the transformer, so that their respective supply voltages are both switched, in common, by switching of the impedance device. The control circuit and variable impedance device isolate the detector from the power supply.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Assignee: Paradigm Electronics Inc.Inventors: Marc E. Patent number: 5635783Abstract: The present invention relates to a brushless direct current motor which includes a second magnet mounted on an inner part of the motor bush in such a way so as to allow an attractive engaging force between the bearing bush and the second magnet. Also, the BLDC motor further includes a third magnet mounted on a lower surface of a rotor yoke inserted at an upper part of the motor bush, and a fourth magnet mounted on an upper surface of a rotor yoke. This separate second magnet is provided for attractively engaging the main base for preventing any separation of the rotor unit from the main base even when the motor is flipped over or overturned, thus allowing feasible adjustment of the magnet size according to the motor requirement conditions. Additionally, head noise due to the magnetic leakage flux, needed for attractively engaging the magnet to the main base, which influences the head and other circuitry, can be effectively reduced.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Assignee: LG Electronics, Inc.Inventor: Hae Seok Lee

Patent number: 5635671Abstract: According to the invention, an electronic device mounted on a substrate is encapsulated using a standard two-piece mold. A novel degating region is formed on a surface of the substrate to allow removal of excess encapsulant formed on the surface during molding without damaging the remainder of the device. The material of the degating region that contacts the encapsulant forms a weak bond with the encapsulant, relative to the bond formed between the encapsulant and the substrate, so that the encapsulant can be peeled away from the degating region without damaging the substrate or other portion of the device. The degating region is provided without introducing additional steps into the process for forming the device. The presence of the degating region eliminates the necessity of using a three-piece or modified two-piece mold to achieve top gating in order to degate without damaging the device. In one embodiment, the degating region is made of gold.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1994Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Assignees: Amkor Electronics, Inc., Anam Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Bruce J. Patent number: 5633566Abstract: A deflection waveform correction signal generator comprises a multiplying circuit for generating a pincushion correction signal. A horizontal frequency ramp is generated by a clipped retrace pulse. The ramp generator has an output coupled to an integrating circuit for generating a parabolic shaped signal. The ramp generator and ramp integrator are reset at a horizontal rate by reset pulses of differing duration. The different duration of reset pulses results in the parabolic signal having regions of non-parabolic shape. The parabolic shaped signal is coupled to an input of the multiplying circuit. A control circuit is coupled to the parabolic shaped signal for maintaining a peak amplitude thereof by controllable coupling to the ramp generator. A control loop is coupled to the integrator for controlling an integrator input bias current to generate the parabolic shaped signal at a predetermined time interval.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1996Date of Patent: May 27, 1997Assignee: Thomson Consumer Electronics Inc.Inventors: Nancy D. Patent number: 5633689Abstract: A digital filter (20,30) separates an M-bit (12) chrominance component (C12) from an N-bit (8) digital composite video signal (CV) supplied thereto, M (12) being greater than N (8) due to arithmetic operations (24,44,46,50) required for the separation. The separated M bit chrominance component is reduced to N-bits and subtracted from the composite video signal to provide a separated luminance component. For bit reduction, the separated chrominance component (C12) is subjected to symmetrical rounding (100A or 100B and 104) and limiting (104). Advantageously, symmetrical rounding of the chrominance component provides reduces a tendency for the luminance component to exhibit contouring when displayed.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1995Date of Patent: May 27, 1997Assignee: Thomson Consumer Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Donald H. Patent number: 5627103Abstract: An interconnect between a conductor and a transistor body above a gate electrode is established by forming a conductor separated and alongside a gate electrode. Both the conductor and the gate electrode are coated with a dielectric material such as silicon dioxide. The silicon dioxide layer is subsequently coated with a thin layer of polysilicon and a contact hole is photolithographically etched through the polysilicon layer and through the silicon dioxide layer to establish a contact hole to said conductor. The polysilicon layer protects the silicon dioxide layer from impurities in the photolithography process. After the photolithographic mask is removed, a second layer of polysilicon is deposited on the first layer of polysilicon, coating the polysilicon layer and partially filling the contact hole, establishing a contact between the combined polysilicon layers and the conductor.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1995Date of Patent: May 6, 1997Assignees: Sony Corporation, Sony Electronics, Inc.Inventor: Jia Li
