Abstract: The present invention relates to a lateral via to provide an electrical connection to a buried conductor. In one instance, the buried conductor is a through via that extends along a first dimension, and the lateral via extends along a second dimension that is generally orthogonal to the first dimension. In another instance, the second dimension is oblique to the first dimension. Components having such lateral vias, as well as methods for creating such lateral vias are described herein.

Abstract: A downhole drilling tool that has a deep-reading logging tool, a near-bit resistivity tool, and a gamma ray detector. Formation information logged using the deep-reading logging tool is used to build a preliminary stratigraphic model with a relatively low resolution. The preliminary stratigraphic model is further refined using data logged using the near-bit resistivity tool and/or the gamma ray detector to obtain a refined stratigraphic model with a higher resolution. The model is used to guide geosteering to achieve better well placement and trajectory control.

Abstract: A fluid delivery system for an inverted electric submersible pump (ESP), where the ESP has a motor section positioned above a pump section in a production path of a hydrocarbon well. The system has a supply of fluid connected to the motor section of the ESP by a supply line and a positive displacement pump that pumps fluid through the supply line to the ESP. A valve is connected between the positive displacement pump and the ESP. The valve is in an open state when the positive displacement pump is pumping fluid. A bypass line is connected in parallel to the positive displacement pump and connected between the normally closed valve and the supply of fluid, the bypass line having a check valve that permits the flow of fluid from the supply of fluid to the ESP.
Abstract: The invention provides an inexpensive, scalable process for coating materials with a film of a refractory metal. As an example, the immersion process can comprise the deposition of a sacrificial zinc coating which is galvanically displaced by the ether-mediated reduction of oxophilic WCl6 to form a complex WOxCly film, and subsequently annealed to crystalline, metallic tungsten. The efficacy of this process was demonstrated on a carbon foam electrode, showing a 50% decrease in electrode resistance and significant gains in electrochemical performance. This process enables voltage efficiency gains for electrodes in batteries, redox flow batteries, and industrial processes where high conductivity and chemical stability are paramount.

Abstract: A die cushion device of a press machine includes: a plurality of cushion pads; a plurality of die cushion force generators that supports the plurality of respective cushion pads, and that is capable of independently moving up and down the plurality of respective cushion pads as well as independently generating die cushion force for each of the cushion pads; and a die cushion controller that controls the plurality of die cushion force generators to independently move up and down the plurality of respective cushion pads as well as to independently generate die cushion force for each of the cushion pads.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a Coriolis mass flowmeter from a polymeric material is described, in which a dynamically responsive manifold is fabricated from the same material as the flow sensor's flow-sensitive elements. The flowmeter is free of mechanical joints and adhesives. The manifold and flow-sensitive elements therefore do not slip or change their location relative one another, nor are they subject to differing degrees of thermal expansion that would otherwise undermine integrity, reliability, and/or accuracy of the boundary condition at the ends of the vibrating flow-sensitive elements.
Abstract: A connector assembly having a housing and pin and a spring contact located therebetween to take up a set gap between the pin and the housing. The spring contact can be a canted coil spring and the spring contact can be made to have a large range of deflection to take up the gap with a large range of variation, such as when the pin diameter varies for a given groove bore diameter or when the groove bore diameter varies for a given pin diameter.
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for separating oxygen from air using a sorption/desorption cycle that includes a reduced or minimized difference between the maximum and minimum pressures involved in the sorption/desorption cycle. The reduced or minimized difference in pressures can be achieved in part by using valves that can allow for commercial scale flow rates while avoiding large pressure drops for flows passing through the valves. A rotary wheel adsorbent is an example of a system that can allow for a sorption/desorption cycle with reduced and/or minimized pressure drops across valves associated with the process. Stationary adsorbent beds can also be used in combination with commercially available valves that have reduced and/or minimized pressure drops.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are intelligent electronic devices configured for monitoring an electric power delivery system and for determining a plurality of configuration settings based on measurements from the electric power delivery system. An IED may identify a configuration event, obtain a plurality of electrical parameters associated with the configuration event, determine a plurality of configuration parameters from the electrical parameters, determine a plurality of configuration settings based on the configuration parameters, and apply the settings to the IED. The IED may also be configured to initiate the configuration event by opening a single pole of a multi-phase power line.

Abstract: Described herein are various technologies pertaining to confirming an integrity of a FPGA. A verifier circuit is placed into an FPGA bitstream to enable external verification of the FPGA configuration in real time without requiring readout of the FPGA configuration itself. Number generators are utilized to generate a key which is shared between the FPGA and an external verification component (VC). The key is utilized to configure an initial state of sequence registers respectively located on both the FPGA and the VC. When the FPGA is operating with an approved configuration, output from the sequence registers at the FPGA and the VC are the same.

Abstract: A method includes bending back a wire fed to a first end side of a magnetic pole in a winding position by guiding the wire from a first end side to a second end side of a multi-pole armature, so that a first extending portion, a second extending portion, and an arc portion are formed. The first extending portion and the second extending portion are continuous via the arc portion. The first extending portion and the second extending portion are parallel to each other. The first extending portion and second extending portion are simultaneously inserted into slots on both sides of one or more of the magnetic poles in the winding position by moving the wire in a radial direction of the multi-pole armature. The slots are parallel to each other. The bending back the wire step and the simultaneous insertion step are performed repeatedly.
