Abstract: A process for the remediation of contaminated particulate materials by the addition of an environmentally benign, carbonaceous fuel source in low concentration to enable or enhance smoldering combustion. The process may be applied to both in situ and ex situ treatments. In an ex situ smoldering process for the remediation of contaminated particulate materials in a continuous manner, contaminated feed is introduced near the top of a treatment unit and treated product emerges near the bottom. A smoldering front is maintained in the unit, fed by the fuel in the contaminated particulate material and a supply of combustion-supporting gas, such as air.

Abstract: A nozzle capable of removing a surplus liquid material, which is adhered to outer surfaces of the nozzle and which affects a discharge operation, without undergoing a special process, and a liquid material discharge device provided with the nozzle. The nozzle (1) includes a body (2) having a liquid inflow space, and a discharge tube (4) communicating with the liquid inflow space and extending downwards from the body (2). A liquid removing member (16) is disposed at a lower end of the body (2) in a state laterally surrounding the discharge tube (4), and the liquid removing member (16) includes a groove-like space (15) that is formed between adjacent to of plural surrounding surfaces (10), and that generates capillary force acting in a direction laterally away from the discharge tube (4).
Abstract: A fuel supply device includes: a linear actuator; a reciprocating pump having a boosting piston driven by the linear actuator, configured to axially reciprocate, and configured to alternately repeat suction of the fuel and ejection of the fuel more boosted than the fuel at a time of suction by reciprocation of the boosting piston; and a controller to control driving of the linear actuator. When reciprocation amplitude of the boosting piston is A (A>0) and a reciprocating cycle time is T, the controller controls the linear actuator so a maximum value of an absolute value of acceleration when the reciprocating pump sucks the fuel with an absolute value of speed of the boosting piston increasing is smaller than A·(2?/T)2, and so a maximum value of the absolute value of the acceleration of the boosting piston when the reciprocating pump ejects the fuel is larger than A·(2?/T)2.
Abstract: A method for testing a steering knuckle manufacturing device is provided. The method includes coupling a clamp testing steering knuckle that includes one or more pressure sensors to the steering knuckle manufacturing device using one or more clamps of the steering knuckle manufacturing device. The clamp testing steering knuckle includes a steering knuckle workpiece and the one or more pressure sensors coupled to the steering knuckle workpiece. The one or more clamps apply a clamping pressure to the clamp testing steering knuckle such that the one or more pressure sensors generate a pressure signal corresponding to the clamping pressure applied by the one or more clamps to the clamp testing steering knuckle. The clamping pressure applied by the one or more clamps is determined based on the pressure signal received from the one or more pressure sensors.
