  • Patent number: 4767224
Abstract: A window cage for a cylindrical roller bearing includes a U-shaped cross section, annular cage having opposite cage rings which engage the ends of the rollers and webs joining the cage rings and extending between the rollers. The opposite sides of each web converge in the radial direction inwardly of the pocket recesses for the rollers. Therefore, spaced apart, opposing sides of two adjacent webs converge in the radial direction outwardly of the pocket recesses to engage a roller in the recess from behind. Radially outward beyond the converging surfaces, the web sides have generally parallel surfaces which are spaced apart slightly less than the diameter of the roller. Recesses are defined in the cage rings at the bottoms of the pocket recesses.

  • Patent number: 4765688
Abstract: In order to keep at least part of the axial and tilting forces that act on a bearing away from the stub shaft supporting the bearing rollers, the inner ring of the bearing is constructed of two sections (2) (3) that support individual sets of ball bearings. The inner ring sections abut one another in a plane perpendicular to the bearing rotational axis. One of these inner ring sections (3) is force fitted on the stub shaft at the free end thereof and has a larger cross section than the other inner ring section (2). A necked-down bolt and mating closure nut, the latter being adjacent inner ring section (3), cooperate to maintain the other bearing elements assembled in operative relationship.

  • Patent number: 4759226
Abstract: A device for measuring the tensile force on a thread includes a housing having thread guides at the points of inlet and outlet of the thread. A spring plate is mounted on the housing intermediate the thread guides and has a dumbbell-shaped guide member at its end for engaging the thread. The spring plate is so mounted that the tension on the thread displaces the spring plate from its initial unflexed position. Adjacent the guide member on the movable spring plate is a permanent magnet which moves with the spring plate as it displaces. A sensor employing the Hall effect is fixed to the housing at a given distance from the magnet. Movements by the magnet are detected by the Hall sensor, which produces an output signal indicative of the displacement of the spring plate, which signal is processed to give an indication of the thread tension.

  • Patent number: 4756150
Abstract: A mount for spinning spindles which discloses various embodiments of wedge type clamping devices for clamping a sleeve, which is disposed around the spindle housing, securely to a spindle bearing plate. The sleeve surrounds the spindle housing with vibration damping elements between them. The wedge clamping devices are driven by a threaded nut which is tightened up around the sleeve and this clamps the sleeve to the plate. A device for separating the drive belt from the drive whorl of the spindle is attachable on the sleeve and presses the belt off the drive whorl, freeing the spindle so that it may then be unclamped for removal from the spindle bearing plate.

  • Patent number: 4726549
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable pressure modulator for anti-locking brake systems utilizes a variable lever-type transmission interposed between a pressure relief piston of the modulator and the compression spring biased armature of an electromagnet whereby the non-linear force/air-gap relationship of the electromagnet is converted to a linear variation of the force applied to the pressure relief piston for moving same. When a predetermined maximum brake pressure is applied to the modulator, the latter automatically isolates the wheel cylinder from the master cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4717211
Abstract: A wheel braking cylinder and an expandable chamber of a pressure modulator are connected in a spatially closed arrangement that is connected to an operator controlled master cylinder, with the chamber being interposed between the braking and master cylinders. When vehicle deceleration reaches an upper threshold, an electromagnet is actuated and the armature thereof operates to isolate the master cylinder from the chamber and expands the chamber to reduce pressure in the braking cylinder, thereby reducing deceleration. When deceleration reaches a lower threshold the electromagnet is de-energized so that force generated by the armature biasing spring acts to reduce the chamber volume, thereby increasing pressure in the braking cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4714358
Abstract: A cage for lipless roller bearings, in which two rows of bearings are separated and supported by a support ring that is wedge- or cusp-shaped in cross-section at the longitudinally inward ends of the roller rows. The support ring surfaces facing the roller ends are so shaped (e.g. having a surface that is inclined to the roller end, or having a larger radius of curvature than the curved roller end, with the axes of curvature being placed inward of the roller axes) that there is defined a lubrication-receiving space between the support ring and the ends of the supported rollers which increases in width toward the radial interior of the bearing, to improve lubrication characteristics. Advantageously the cage may be used with a lipless self-aligning roller bearing, or a lipless conical or tapered roller bearing.
