  • Patent number: 6452473
Abstract: A laminated inductor used for micro-miniaturized high frequency circuit includes insulating layers and conductive patterns alternately superimposed with each other, and the end of each conductive pattern is connected with each other to form a coil 3 in a laminated form. The starting end and terminal end of the coil 3 are connected with terminal electrodes 4, 5 at the opposed ends of the chip. The terminal electrodes 4, 5 are formed on, exception the side surface of the chip, the end surface and the lower surface of the chip or otherwise the end surface and upper and lower surfaces of the chip. This structure can minimize an adjacent portion between the coil 3 and the terminal electrodes 4, 5 so that a stray capacitance can be reduced. Thus, a high resonant frequency can be obtained for high frequency applications.

  • Patent number: 6417952
Abstract: There is provided a Faraday rotation angle varying device in which external magnetic fields are applied from at least two directions to a garnet single crystal having a Faraday effect and a synthesized magnetic field is varied so that Faraday rotation angle of light which transmits through the garnet single crystal is controlled. The device has a base film of garnet single crystal having a rotation angle varied in accordance with variation of a synthesized magnetic field, and a compensating film of a garnet single crystal having a constant Faraday rotation angle. The base film has a wavelength coefficient sign and the compensating film has a wavelength coefficient sign which is different from that of the base film, so that a wavelength variation component of the Faraday rotation angle of the base film is reduced by the compensating film. For example, a fixed magnetic field parallel to a light direction is applied by permanent magnets and a variable magnetic field is applied by an electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 6270833
Abstract: A new separator for an alkaline cell is provided, which can prevent deformation to an end of the separator and also prevent short circuits within the cell structure when an external force is added to the cell. The separator has a characteristic that a ratio of a tensile strength of a longitudinal direction of a separator base paper and a tensile strength of a widthwise direction of the base paper is within a range of 2/1 to 1/1. The invention provides a new method of producing the separator. The method permits reliability in sealing properties of a closed bottom end and high productivity. The method has the steps of: winding the base paper to form a cylindrical body; subjecting the cylindrical body to a closed bottom forming step while the cylindrical body is held by a clamping device to maintain its cylindrical shape; heat-bonding an end of the cylindrical body to close the end; and releasing the cylindrical body from the cylindrical clamping device.

  • Patent number: 5648692
Abstract: There is provided a stator yoke capable of improving magnetic characteristics and a rust-proofing effect of a stator yoke produced by using a Fe-Cr type alloy. When a stator yoke is produced by using a Fe-Cr type alloy, its magnetic characteristics can be improved, but when press working is made to obtain a predetermined shape, the magnetic characteristics drop. Annealing is carried out so as to recover the magnetic characteristics. This annealing generates the property change of a surface layer and a rust-proofing effect lowers.
