  • Patent number: 5896969
Abstract: A switchable ratchet freewheel, under load, for multiple-gear hubs on bicycles includes a bolted pawl, a drive, a switch bush, as well as a switch ring. The switch ring, which has a positive-fit connection to the pawl, can either be lifted by a bulge on the switch bush, which acts in concert with an incline on a switch nose, provided that a small or no turning moment is conveyed, or by recesses with end faces and timing edges, which act in concert with a run-up incline on the recesses, whereby the recess enters into a short positive-fit connection with the segment of the switch nose that faces radially inward, provided that higher turning moments are present. In case the pawl is not lifted immediately, by means of the bulge acting in concert with the incline, this results in the positive fit of the recess with the switch nose, which reliably disengages the pawl bond when the run-up incline acts in concert with the timing edge.

  • Patent number: 5884740
Abstract: A friction clutch for arrangement in the power train of a motor vehicle. The friction clutch includes a flywheel mass arrangement to be fastened to an input shaft rotating about an axis of rotation. A pressure plate unit with a clutch housing is held at the flywheel mass arrangement. A contact-pressure plate is guided so as to be axially displaceable relative to the clutch housing and the flywheel mass arrangement. A clutch spring arrangement axially spring loads the contact-pressure plate toward the flywheel mass arrangement. A clutch disk with friction facings projects between, on the one side, friction surfaces of the flywheel mass arrangement which are located axially opposite one another and, on the other side, the contact-pressure plate. The flywheel mass arrangement and the contact-pressure plate are coupled with one another in a torsionally elastic manner with reference to the axis of rotation in order to limit the peak torque transmitted through the friction clutch.

  • Patent number: 5878856
Abstract: A flywheel device has at least two inertial masses which can rotate relative to one another against the action of elastic elements of a damping device, one of which inertial masses, namely the output-side inertial mass which is farther from a drive system, such as for example the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, is guided both radially and axially by way of a bearing arrangement with respect to the input-side inertial mass. The bearing arrangement has at least one axial plain bearing and one radial plain bearing. Both plain bearings guide the output-side inertial mass with respect to the input-side inertial mass with a clearance, the size of which is determined so that when a wobbling motion is introduced from the crankshaft to the input-side inertial mass, the output-side inertial mass, under the effect of centrifugal forces, can perform a self-stabilization.

Between the cylinder tube and the container tube at least one hydraulic connection, extending from one of the work chambers via an overflow orifice to a damping force adjustment valve located outside the container tube, is formed. A cylinder tube guide centers the cylinder tube with respect to the container tube. The damping force adjustment valve has two connection openings, one of which openings is separated from the other by a wall. The damping force adjustment valve is connected to the hydraulic connection, so that the container tube extends over the entire length of the hydraulic connection to the piston rod guide.

  • Patent number: 5848676
Abstract: A vibration damper for a motor vehicle is taught, which vibration damper has a cylinder tube in which a piston rod which is centered by a piston rod guide can move axially. A container tube encloses the cylinder tube, and the container tube is made of a material which has a significantly higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the material of the cylinder tube. Aluminum is an example if the container tube material. A compensation device compensates for the length difference between the cylinder tube and the container tube at temperatures below and above the temperature at which the vibration damper is manufactured. The container tube is characterized by the fact that preferably at least two expansion beads are formed in the wall of the container tube. The expansion beads compensate for thermal changes in length of the container tube and hold the cylinder tube under a bias with respect to the container tube over the entire range of operating temperatures.

  • Patent number: 5847272
Abstract: To be able to verify the function of the actuator system of an automatic clutch or of an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle as a function of the current conditions, including while the motor vehicle is in motion is necessary, the invention teaches that a test circuit actuates the actuator system, starting from a first specified operating position of the clutch or of the transmission to a second specified operating position of the clutch or of the transmission, into an actuator test position in which the clutch or the transmission is still essentially in its first operating position. The test circuit, in the actuator test position, tests the functional capability as a function of data stored in a data memory, which stored data are compared to data measured in the actuator test position of a changing operating parameter.
