Patent number: 5829567Abstract: A clutch disc includes an elastic mounting to absorb both wobbling movement and to compensate for axially offsetting transmission components. Between the hub and the components which can rotate with respect to the hub, there is a spring element which makes it possible by means of two different types of fingers to accomplish both a radially elastic centering and an axially elastic clamping. The clutch disc can thereby absorb both wobbling movements and axial offsets.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1996Date of Patent: November 3, 1998Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs AGInventor: Norbert Ament

Patent number: 5830096Abstract: A bicycle power train for bicycles, the bicycle power train including a driving sprocket set and a driven sprocket set. A chain connects the driving sprocket set and the driven sprocket set to one another. The chain transfers torque from a sprocket of the driving sprocket set to a sprocket of the driven sprocket set. The torque is transferred to the chain from the driving sprocket via drive teeth disposed on the driving sprocket. The drive teeth each include a drive flank that engages a corresponding link roller of the chain. Each drive flank has a bevel formed thereon, the bevel being shaped to compensate for the lengthening of the chain with wear. The bevel is configured to maximize the number of drive teeth that can simultaneously engage the chain and participate in the transfer of torque over the life of the chain.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1997Date of Patent: November 3, 1998Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs AGInventors: Frank Schmidt, Holger Brandt, Markus Krumbeck, Andreas Neuer

Patent number: 5816358Abstract: An electrically powered vehicle including an electric motor connected to drive a wheel of the vehicle. The electric motor receives a supply of electric current from a power source; a power electronics device and superordinated controller regulate the current supply based upon signals received from a driver or operator of the vehicle. A sensor for sensing data indicative of an accident or impending accident is connected to the superordinated controller in which the sensed data is compared to predetermined limit values to determine if an accident situation exists. Upon determining that an accident situation exists, the superordinated controller activates a circuit breaker to disconnect the electric power supply and thereby interrupt the supply of electric current to the electric motor.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1996Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs AGInventors: Uwe Adler, Michael Wagner

Patent number: 5799541Abstract: A twist-grip shifter for bicycles having a twist grip or grip part which is actuated by the rider's hand to change the gears of the bicycle, and a cable winding mechanism or coil wind-up mechanism. The twist grip and the cable winding mechanism of the twist-grip shifter are connected to one another, and debris and other contaminants can be prevented from entering the interior of the twist-grip shifter near this connection by providing a contactless seal or a friction seal. The contactless seal includes a projecting collar on the cable winding mechanism which extends into a groove formed in the twist grip. Patent number: 5799766Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the attachment of a centrifugal mass or a modular clutch to the output end of a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. For this purpose, axially-oriented gear teeth can be introduced in both parts, e.g. a serration, and there can be a central screw element which can extend into a threaded portion in the crankshaft. The present invention teaches that an axially-oriented spring bias can be applied to both parts to create a reliable connection between the parts of the gear teeth.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1996Date of Patent: September 1, 1998Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs AGInventors: Achim Link, Heiko Schulz-Andres, Reinhold Weidinger, Klaus Gorzitzke, Gunther Esly, Andreas Krause, Thomas Stretz, Markus Wirbel, Reinhard Deppert
