Abstract: A punch tool for use by children is disclosed. The punch tool includes a removable die and punch assembly that can be inserted and removed from a base portion to permit the punching of holes having a variety of configurations. A cap is rigidly secured to the base and has an indented portion so sheets of paper can be inserted between the base and the cap. The retainer cap includes an opening in which an actuator button is slidably mounted and against which the punch is biased by a spring. Thus, a user can slide a sheet of paper between the base and the retainer cap and punch a hole therethrough by pressing the actuator button with sufficient force to overcome the spring bias.

Abstract: The present invention relates to scissor action tools such as garden shears or the like which are provided with a pair of cooperatively engaging members united for scissor action about a joint. In particular, this invention relates to tools of the type provided with a shock absorber for absorbing the impact created upon complete closure of the tool. The shock absorber includes a shank secured to one of the members. The shank is configured to merge into a resilient head which is formed as an annular structure. The head comes into abutting relationship with the other member when the members assume a closed position.

Abstract: A cutting implement with an adjustable guide, such as a knife, includes a handle, an elongated blade, a guide adjustable with respect to the blade, and a knob substantially received in a cavity formed in the upper region of the handle. The knob protrudes from the cavity and cooperates with the guide so that a user can adjust the space between the guide and the blade by rotation of the knob.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device for describing arcs. The device includes a pair of legs connected at a pivot joint. A shoe is disposed at the end of one leg to support the device and maintain the center point of the arc while the device is used. An instrument is attached to the other leg so arcs can be formed as the device is rotated about the shoe. A rack and wheel are also connected to the legs to adjust the radius of the arc.

Abstract: A foldable hand tool, such as a pocket folding knife, includes a knife blade and a handle for storing the knife blade, and a pivotally biased lock bar to secure the blade in extended position. The knife also includes a pair of non-slip ridges mechanically interlocked with the handle in a region of the handle proximate to the blade when the blade is in stored position. The ridges, which project outwardly from the handle, are contoured to permit suitable engagement by the fingertips of a user's hand, thereby reducing slippage when the blade is extended from the stored position. The handle is formed of two keyed sections firmly assembled together by cooperation of a lock bar biasing spring with coaxially aligned holes formed in the keyed regions of the handle sections.

Abstract: An instrument for performing various drawing and measurement functions is disclosed. The instrument includes an elongated plate having a straight edge and a measurement region. A protractor plate is connected to the elongated plate and cooperates with a rotatable center dial for the drawing and measuring of angles. The instrument also preferably includes holes through the elongated plate. The holes are configured to receive a marking instrument so the device can be used as a compass. Additionally, an attachment region allows the instrument to be held in a conventional ring binder.

Abstract: A utility knife includes a hollow handle, for retractably housing a blade mounted on a blade carrier. The blade carrier is pivotally coupled to an actuator. A user can extend or retract the blade through a front slot by depressing an actuating button and sliding the actuator along an actuator glideway and blade carrier along a carrier glideway to a desired position. Once in the desired position a resilient member on the actuator urges protrusions on the actuator into engagement with detents provided within the handle. The blade carrier glideway is provided in an non-parallel orientation with respect to the actuator glideway to obtain a beneficial force transmission to the actuator that tends to maintain engagement between the actuator and the detents. A blade guard at least partially surrounds the front slot to resist upward forces on the: blade during cutting, while a carrier guard contacts a portion of the cutting edge of the blade within the handle to protect the carrier from damage by the blade.

Abstract: A shipping and display carton which may be used for such applications as merchandising elongated items such as garden shears or garden loppers is formed without using glue, tape, staples, or the like and comprises a display tray and a slidable cover. The display shipper is configured to limit set up time at the point of purchase and provides for attractively displaying all items contained therein. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the display shipper comprises a tray having cut out portion configured to receive a pair of oppositely facing ramps on which the items are disposed, and a slidable cover. The tray, ramp, and cover, are each made from a blank of folding carton stock.

Abstract: A hand pruner including a first handle and a second handle pivotally connected to said first handle, a first cutting blade secured to said second handle, a second cutting blade pivotally connected to said second handle for movement into engagement with said first cutting blade and a link connecting said second blade to said first handle whereby said second blade is pivoted into engagement with said first blade when said first handle is pivoted into engagement with said second handle, the cutting blades being laterally offset to provide a scissors cut and are convertible to an anvil cutting blade by mounting an anvil plate on the second cutting blade.

Abstract: A bicycle tool kit which provides either a number of open end or box style wrenches in a plate-like web attached to an end of an elongated handle. Attached to the top of the handle is a chain link remover for repairing broken links of bicycle chains. The threaded shaft of the chain link remover is adapted for removably retaining a separate deep socket and two allen wrenches, one of which has a screw driver tip. A wrench is also provided for adjusting the tension of the spokes of the bicycle wheels. The bicycle tool kit is structured to be lightweight, compact, and highly portable, and yet still offer most of the tools necessary for making adjustments and repairs to a bicycle should a problem develop while riding.
