  • Patent number: 7477461
Abstract: The present invention is a compact lens system for use as a wide-field photographic objective with small format digital image sensors having a pixel dimension less than 0.010 mm. The f-number of the lens system is 2.9740, and the effective focal length of the system is 3.85 mm. The full angular field of view of the lens system is 61 degrees, and the chief ray incidence angles on the image plane are less than 18 degrees. The system comprises three plastic lenses, each having two aspheric surfaces. At least one of the aspheric surfaces in the system is coated with a multilayer infrared cut-off filter for blocking infrared wavelengths from the image sensors. The lens system has a reduced sensitivity to manufacturing tolerances, particularly lateral misalignment of optical elements and surfaces.

  • Patent number: 7469100
Abstract: A novel micro camera module that is manually adjustable between a close-up mode and an infinite mode includes a lens assembly adjustably mounted within a sleeve that is adjustably mounted into a housing. In a particular embodiment the sleeve includes a channel (cam groove) that is engaged by a plurality of pins fixed to the housing. Further, a biasing member is disposed between the sleeve and the housing such that an upward force will enable the pins to firmly engage the lower portion of the channel. In a more particular embodiment, the channel defines two detents that secure the sleeve into predetermined positions with respect to the housing. In an even more particular embodiment, the channel is sloped such that upon rotation of the sleeve, the distance between the lens assembly and an image capture device is changed. In another particular embodiment, the camera module includes an electrical mode detecting switch that is indicative of the position of the camera module.

  • Patent number: 7457050
Abstract: A five-element 3:1 zoom lens system in which the first lens group has a negative power and includes two lens elements and the second lens group has a positive power and includes a pair of lens sub-groups, the first sub-group having a positive power and including a pair of lens elements and the second sub-group having a positive power and including a single lens element. In one embodiment the second sub-group remains stationary relative to the location of the image plane and in another embodiment the second sub-group remains stationary relative to the first sub-group while they are moved relative to the location of the image plane. Several of the lens element surfaces are aspherical. The second lens element of the first sub-group is relatively thick and has a relatively high optical power. The overall length of the lens system is relatively short.

  • Patent number: 7430117
Abstract: An electronics chassis is provided that utilizes multiple fan units, each of which may incorporate multiple fans, to improve airflow through an internal enclosure of the chassis. Various combinations of multiple fan units are utilized to increase airflow and provide redundancy in the event of the failure of one or more fans. In one arrangement, combinations of horizontally mounted and vertically mounted fans are utilized to improve airflow. In further arrangements, multiple access openings are provided into the enclosure such that an individual fan unit or an individual fan may be accessed for servicing purposes without altering or discontinuing the operation of other fans or fan units.

  • Patent number: 7205752
Abstract: A system and a method for to use multiple power sources for supplying power to a load. The system and method use a triggering system to automatically and substantially cancel a ripple component of the input current drawn by the system. A master power source and a slave power source supply power to the load. The triggering system results in the two power sources having switching frequencies that are substantially equal and switching cycles that are substantially 180° out of phase. Further, the method and the device contemplate the use of a local oscillator in the triggering system to ensure that the slave power source is triggered to the on position at a point in the switching cycle of the master power source that is approximately 180° out of phase with a leading edge of the master switching drive signal. The system and method are advantageously used to provide a power factor correction front-end for a switch-mode power supply.
