  • Patent number: 7746040
Abstract: An input current shaping AC to DC converter with PFC front end that reduces input current harmonics is provided. In one embodiment, an AC to DC converter connectable with an alternating current source and operable to output a direct current has a PFC front end followed by a DC/DC converter. The PFC front end reduces harmonic components present in an input current waveform received by the PFC front end from the alternating current source and includes current steering circuitry and, optionally, valley filling circuitry. The DC/DC converter is one that presents pure resistive input impedance to the PFC front end. The DC/DC converter outputs the direct current to a load connected thereto.

  • Publication number: 20100156846
Abstract: A touch screen sensor assembly that includes a single substrate. In one embodiment, the assembly includes a first patterned transparent conductive layer (e.g., indium tin oxide) disposed on top of the substrate. The assembly also includes a second patterned transparent conductive layer disposed over the first conductive layer, with a layer of silicon oxide disposed therebetween. The silicon oxide layer functions to electrically isolate the first and second conductive layers, thereby eliminating the need for two substrates or a single substrate having transparent conductive layers on each of its top and bottom surfaces. The assembly may also be connectable to a single, non-bifurcated flexible printed circuit operative to connect the assembly to a controller.

  • Patent number: 7701714
Abstract: Provided herein are hybrid-cooled electronics chassis and boards. Such boards may be plugged in a chassis and connected to a common liquid-cooling loop shared by two or more of the boards inside that chassis. Liquid cooling conduits between the electronics board/module and the chassis are engaged and disengaged with little or no manual intervention. For instance, the connections between such cooling conduits may utilize quick coupling connectors that allow for automatic or near automatic engagement and disengagement upon the engagement of the electronics board/module with the electronics chassis. In one arrangement, a chassis includes a base portion that has a fan, liquid cooling system and heat exchanger mounted thereon. An electronics module is selectively engageable with the base portion in a manner to have air displaced across the electronics module when engaged as well establish liquid flow through the electronics module when engaged.

  • Patent number: 7692932
Abstract: The devices and methods herein provide ground for computer cards inserted into a computer card chassis (e.g., VME chassis, CompactPCI chassis, ATCA chassis, etc.). A resilient clip may be configured with a chassis member of the computer card chassis. The clip is affixed to the computer card chassis and maintains contact with a ground plane, such as an ESD shield. The clip may have a self locking mechanism which insurers that the clip resides at a fixed position with the chassis member. A computer card may then be inserted into the computer card chassis and thereby make contact with the resilient clip. The computer card may include a ground pin which inserts through an aperture within the chassis member to make contact with the resilient clip. Accordingly, the inserted computer card may be provided with ESD protection as well as a ground reference potential from the computer card chassis.

  • Publication number: 20100061123
Abstract: A power converter includes a transformer, a primary switch, an auxiliary switch, first and second resonance capacitors, and a secondary side rectification means. A switch mode power supply is formed to use reflected voltage and parasitic capacitance as an energy source for a transformer resonance. The auxiliary switch effectively exchanges energy between the primary inductance of the transformer and the first and second resonant capacitors. The auxiliary switch effectively switches the transformer resonance between two distinct frequencies. In one embodiment of the invention, the power converter can be, but is not limited to, a flyback converter and further includes a comparator and a driver. The comparator is for detecting the voltage across the second resonance capacitor and the driver is configured to drive the auxiliary switch based on the output state of the comparator. The resonant nature of the converter provides zero voltage (ZVS) for the primary switch as well as for the auxiliary switch.

  • Patent number: 7589978
Abstract: An air inlet diffuser 10 is disclosed for attachment relative to an air inlet opening 106 of an electronics enclosure 100. The diffuser 10 extends into the electronics enclosure 100 and provides an increased surface area through which EMI attenuating apertures may be formed. The diffuser 10 also reduces the amount of structure that is disposed within the air inlet opening 106 thereby reducing impedance to airflow through the opening 106 into the enclosure 100. The increased surface are of the diffuser 10 allows for increasing the number of EMI attenuating apertures that may be utilized for a given inlet opening 106. In one embodiment, the total open area of the EMI apertures is greater than the open area of the air inlet opening. In such an embodiment, the EMI apertures provide low impedance to airflow through the diffuser 10 and increased airflow in conjunction with EMI attenuation may be realized.
