Abstract: Embodiments for generating vacuum at a throttle are presented. In one example, a system comprises a throttle positioned in an intake of an engine, and a peripheral venturi proximate the throttle, the venturi having an inlet positioned to interface with an edge of the throttle when the throttle is in a partially open position. In this way, vacuum may be generated by flow air through the venturi.
Abstract: An inlet duct, an induction system, and a system are disclosed for directing an inlet flow into an inlet compressor for use in an internal combustion engine. An example inlet duct may include one or more relief features disposed on an inner surface of the inlet duct. The one or more relief features may be made integral with the inlet duct. The one or more relief features may be disposed to protrude into the inlet flow to cause the inlet flow to swirl before reaching the inlet compressor.

Abstract: Embodiments for vacuum generation are provided. In one example, a method comprises when boost is below a threshold, generating vacuum with an actuator in a first position by flowing air from a compressor outlet to an intake manifold through a first ejector, and when boost is above the threshold, generating vacuum with the actuator in a second position by flowing air from the compressor outlet to a compressor inlet through a second ejector. In this way, vacuum may be generated by more than one ejector via actuation of a common actuator.

Abstract: A universal refueling funnel for a capless refueling system is provided. In one example approach the refueling funnel comprises a funnel body with a first opening at a first end and a second opening at a second end opposing the first end, the first opening larger than the second opening, and cross-sections of the funnel body decreasing from the first end towards the second end; and at least two opposing tabs at the second end, the opposing tabs deformable from a first position to a second position, a distance between outer surfaces of the opposing tabs at the second end being a first amount in the first position, the distance being a second, smaller amount, in the second position. Such a universal funnel may be used for both petrol and diesel size capless inserts, for example.

Abstract: Systems and methods for an overhead cam shaft coupled to an inline engine with inner cylinders and outer cylinders are disclosed. In one example approach, an engine bank comprises inner cylinders each having only first and second lift profiles, both being non-zero lift profiles, and outer cylinders each having first, second, and third lift profiles, two being non-zero lift profiles and one being zero lift.
Abstract: Modification of reductant (e.g., diesel exhaust fluid, DEF) tank location, for example during vehicle up-fitting may result in less than optimal operation of the DEF system due to inaccurate DEF system calibration. In one example approach, the above issue can be at least partially addressed by adjusting control system parameters for system control and diagnostics based on an input indicative of, or any modification to, the DEF tank location. In this way, DEF tank location flexibility is maintained, while also maintaining emission control and diagnostic accuracy.

Abstract: In a process for producing a particulate polysaccharide derivative by dry-grinding a moist polysaccharide derivative the median length of the particles after dry-grinding is controlled by controlling the moisture content of the polysaccharide derivative prior to dry-grinding. Advantageously the median length of the particles after dry-grinding is adjusted to a first value by a first moisture content of the polysaccharide derivative prior to dry-grinding and is adjusted to a second value by a second moisture content.

The flow separator is arranged interior the housing and configured to form a slideable seal with at least one rotor of the plurality of rotors, the slideable seal fluidically isolating the first inlet from the second inlet, at least in part, and retarding pressure equalization therebetween.
Abstract: A method for compensating for thermal transient conditions of an engine that can cause valve growth or contraction is disclosed. In one example, the method provides cylinder air amount compensation during non-blow-through and blow-through conditions. The approach may improve cylinder air amount estimates, thereby improving engine emissions.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for reducing variability in air-fuel control due to variations in brake booster vacuum levels at an engine start. A throttle position is adjusted during an engine start based on the vacuum availability in the brake booster to control a rate of intake aircharge flow. By allowing aircharge to enter the intake manifold at a more consistent rate, air-fuel control is improved and exhaust emissions are reduced.
