  • Patent number: 9048498
Abstract: The substrate-supported anode for a high-temperature fuel cell comprises an at least three-layer anode laminate on a metallic substrate. Each of the layers of the anode laminate comprises yttria-stabilized zirconia and nickel, wherein the mean particle size of the nickel decreases from one layer to the next as the distance from the substrate increases. The last layer of the anode laminate, which is provided for contact with the electrolyte, has a root mean square roughness of less than 4 ?m. The overall mean pore size of this layer is typically between 0.3 and 1.5 ?m. Starting powders having a bimodal particle size distribution of yttria-stabilized zirconia and nickel-containing powder are used at least for the first and second layers of the anode laminate. The mean particle size of the nickel-containing powder is reduced from one layer to the next, whereby it is advantageously no more than 0.5 ?m in the last layer of the anode laminate.

  • Patent number: 9001558
Abstract: A method for reading out a memory element comprises a series connection. of at least two memory cells A and B each have a stable state A0 or B0 having higher resistance and a stable state A1 or B1 having lower electrical resistance. An electrical variable of the series circuit is measured and an electrical variable is selected for this measurement, to which the memory cell A in state A0 makes a different contribution than the memory cell B in state B0 and/or to which the memory cell A instate A1 makes a different contribution than the memory cell B in state B1. The two state combinations A1 and B0 or A0 and B1 then result in differing values for the electrical variable that is measured by way of the series circuit. These state combinations can thus be distinguished from each other without having to change the logic state of the memory element during reading.

  • Patent number: 8916091
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing semi-finished products from a shape memory alloy, particularly an NiTi shape memory alloy, wherein a powder is first produced from a shape memory alloy, and subsequently the powder is divided into a coarse fraction and a fine fraction in a separating cut T. While the fine fraction is required, in particular, for the production of a first semi-finished product, employing the metal injection molding (MIM) method, the coarse fraction can be used for the production of a second semi-finished product, employing the hot isostatic pressing (HIP) method. The advantages of the invention can be summarized as follows. The MIM method for producing semi-finished products from a shape memory alloy is qualitatively improved and more cost-effective to implement if the coarse fraction that is typically obtained during powder production, but not used for the MIM process, can advantageously be supplied to a further process, in this case the HIP process.

  • Patent number: 8893506
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for operating an IGCC power plant, wherein the coal gas from a gasifier, comprising CO and hydrogen, is supplied to at least one shift stage, wherein this is converted primarily into CO2 and hydrogen and the coal gas is subjected to at least one gas cleaning step. The coal gas is conducted over a membrane, which at least partially selectively separates the hydrogen from the coal gas. In order to achieve driving potential in the membrane, a flushing gas is used on the permeate side. The hydrogen depleted retentate is fed to a CO2 conditioning process, while the separated hydrogen is fed together with the flushing gas to a gas turbine as fuel gas. The flushing gas used for the membrane is a component of the waste gas produced in the gas turbine after the waste gas has left the waste heat recovery boiler, which is connected downstream of the gas turbine. In the power plant, the gas turbine also functions as a means for providing the flushing gas.

  • Patent number: 8754283
Abstract: Methods for partially decontaminating radioactive waste wherein the waste is first mixed, or brought in contact, with at least one corrosive medium. Activation energy is then supplied to the corrosive medium, so that at least a portion of the radionuclide present in the waste is converted into at least one gaseous reaction product, or is dissolved, by hydrogen or hydrogen ions, oxygen or oxygen ions, and/or halogen (for example chlorine) or halogen ions from the corrosive medium. The aim is that of decontaminating a 12C/13C-containing porous solid waste, which is contaminated with the 14C radionuclide. For this purpose, CO2 and/or hydrogen are applied as corrosive media to the waste, so that at least a portion of the waste is reacted to form at least one gaseous reaction product, wherein the process temperature is selected so that the 14C radionuclide is enriched in the reaction product over 12C/13C.

  • Patent number: 8735813
Abstract: A laser ablation chamber, which is suitable for use in a conventional laser-assisted micro dissection unit (LMD), in combination with the LMD allows for both quantitative spatially resolved nanolocal analysis and distribution analysis of element concentrations of a sample, and a microscopic detection of the surface topography of the same sample, in the nanometer range. Optionally, further examinations may follow, without having to remove the sample from a microscope slide bearing the sample. For the examination, a region of the sample to be analyzed is selected with the aid of a microscope of a LMD. For this purpose, the sample is located on the lower face of a cover slip (microscope slide), which also forms part of a laser ablation chamber mounted beneath the microscope slide and inside the LMD. A portion of the sample is ablated and analyzed.
