  • Patent number: 9078592
Abstract: An elasticity measuring system determines tissue displacement between a pre-deformation and post-deformation image by a matching process using a cost function accepting as its arguments continuity of the tissue motion and correlation of the tissue in making the block matching. The invention allows the selection among different cost functions for different imaging situations or tissue types, to provide improved displacement calculations using a priori knowledge about the tissue and structure of tissue interfaces or information derived during the scanning process.

  • Publication number: 20150191532
Abstract: There are provided peptide tags derived from bacteriophytochrome (BphP) that is photoreceptor protein of Deinococcusradiodurans, an antibody capable of specifically recognizing the peptide tags, hybridoma cell lines capable of producing the antibody, and uses thereof. The novel peptide tag has advantages in that it has a short length and can remove a non-specific reaction of the conventional c-myc tag and FLAG tag. Therefore, in the case of using the novel peptide tag and antibody thereto, the fusion protein expressed in a recombinant cell can be very effectively detected or purified. In addition, an epitope tagging system including the novel peptide tag and antibody thereto can be applied in various fields such as a determination of an intracellular site, a confirmation of functionality, detection and purification of specific protein, and researches on interaction between proteins.

  • Publication number: 20150190379
Abstract: The pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein Bax initiates apoptosis in almost all apoptotic paradigms. Agents facilitating disruptive Bax insertion into mitochondrial membranes have potential as cancer therapeutics. Small molecule compounds associating with the hydrophobic groove of the pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein Bax have been identified and found to promote Bax-dependent, but not Bak-dependent, apoptosis. The compounds alter Bax protein stability in vitro and promote Bax insertion into mitochondria, leading to Bax-dependent mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization and apoptosis. The compounds activating the pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein Bax inhibit the growth of tumors by inducing apoptosis. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds that activate Bax and induce Bax-dependent apoptosis are useful as anti-cancer therapeutic agents alone or with other anti-cancer agents. Methods for inducing apoptosis and for treating cancer involve administering the compounds to a patient in need thereof.

  • Patent number: 9077446
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention relates to a method for performing spectrum sensing to detect a signal for a terminal of a primary user in each sensing node. The method for performing sensing may comprise the steps of: performing, by the sensing node, spectrum sensing to detect a signal for a terminal of a primary user; computing, by the sensing node, a local test statistic on the basis of the result of the spectrum sensing; calculating, by the sensing node, the transmission probability on the basis of the computed local test statistic; and transmitting, by the sensing node, sensing information to a convergence center on the basis of the calculated transmission probability. In this case, the convergence center can determine whether the signal for a primary user exists on the basis of the transmitted sensing information.
