Abstract: An apparatus for positioning at a target site and for treating a pulmonary condition in a subject includes a fluid exchange catheter for insertion into a tracheo-bronchial tree and an inflatable balloon coupled to the fluid exchange catheter. At least a portion of the inflatable balloon is for engaging a luminal wall of the tracheo-bronchial tree at the target site. The apparatus further includes an energy delivery mechanism operably coupled to the inflatable balloon. The energy delivery mechanism includes at least one energy delivery member for delivering electrical energy to the target site.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polymer memory device and to a production method for the same, and relates to a novel photocrosslinkable polymer compound able to be used in a polymer memory device, to a novel non-volatile memory device in which an active layer between an upper electrode and a lower electrode comprises a photocrosslinkable polyimide polymer, and to a production method for the same. In the polymer memory device, the photocrosslinkable polyimide polymer is used as an active layer.

Abstract: This document discusses, among other things, brain stimulation models, systems, devices, and methods, such as for deep brain stimulation (DBS) or other electrical stimulation. In an example, volumetric imaging data representing an anatomical volume of a brain of a patient can be obtained and transformed to brain atlas data. A patient-specific brain atlas can be created using the inverse of the transformation to map the brain atlas data onto the volumetric imaging data and a volume of influence can be calculated using the patient-specific brain atlas. In certain examples, the volume of influence can include a predicted volume of tissue affected by an electrical stimulation delivered by an electrode at a corresponding at least one candidate electrode target location.

Abstract: A system and method of high-speed microscopy using a two-photon microscope with spectral resolution. The microscope is operable to provide spectrally resolved, multi-dimensional images from a single scan of a sample. The microscope may include one of a multi-beam point scanning microscope, a single beam line scanning microscope, and a multi-beam line scanning microscope. The microscope includes a descanning arrangement such that emitted fluorescence is static on a receiving detector. The detector is a narrow detector with a width at least half the size of the length, to reduce the amount of pixel data being transmitted and improve scan speeds. The microscope may also incorporate one or more binning techniques whereby pixels are binned together to improve resolution or scan speeds.

Abstract: An apparatus for repairing the function of a diseased valve includes an annular first support member expandable to a first diameter. An annular second support member is spaced axially apart from the first support member and is expandable to a second diameter that is independent of the first diameter. A tubular graft section interconnects the first and second support members. The graft section defines an annulus having a third diameter that is independent of each of the first and second diameters. A prosthetic valve is secured within the annulus of the graft section. The bioprosthetic valve has at least two valve leaflets that are coaptable to permit the unidirectional flow of blood. Methods for repairing the function of a diseased valve and for making the apparatus are also provided.
Abstract: A method of reacting compounds can include directing a liquid into a helical constrained flow (37) having an inner circumferential flow surface and an outer circumferential flow surface. The helical constrained flow (37) can be formed around an axial interior volume (38). At least a portion of the helical constrained flow can be exposed to a sparging portion (35) to allow a fluid to be sparged into the liquid along the helical constrained flow (37). The fluid reactant can be sparged through the helical constrained flow so as to form a fluid product.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an adaptive transmitting device using limited feedback information in a mobile communication system, and a method thereof. Abstract: A method of detecting the smoke of a forest fire using the spatiotemporal Bag-of-Features (BoF) of the smoke and a random forest is provided. In the method, whenever each frame of a video sequence is input, a difference between the input frame and a previous frame is detected, and the input frame is set as a key frame if the difference exceeds a predetermined first threshold value. One or more moving blocks are detected in the set key frame. One or more candidate smoke blocks are extracted from the moving blocks using a smoke color model. BoF representations are generated from the detected candidate smoke blocks. Whether smoke of the candidate smoke blocks is actual smoke is determined by performing random forest learning on the generated BoF representation.
