Abstract: The present application generally relates to a method to treat a patient with a bacterial infection caused by Clostridium difficile. Particularly the method compromises the step of administering a therapeutically effective amount of diiodohydroxyquinoline, with or without one or more anti-infective agents, to the patient in need of relief from said infection. Methods of uses and composition matters are within the scope of this disclosure.

Abstract: A federated learning method using artificial intelligence performed by a local client is disclosed. The federated learning method comprises receiving a model from a central server to store the model as a global model and a local model, learning the local model using internal data based on the global model, and transmitting the learned local model to the central server. The learning of the local model is performed by learning a discriminator model and a classifier using features of the global model and features of the local model in each batch of the internal data to generate the features of the local model through the learning of the local model so that the features of the local model are not discriminated as the discriminator model and to operate the classifier to classify a correct answer. Hence, divergence of the global model in federated learning can be suppressed.

Abstract: A blockchain-based carbon dioxide emission reduction compensation system is provided that includes a carbon-neutral blockchain system and a Green Coin blockchain system. The carbon-neutral blockchain system receives from an information verifier server at least one of a carbon dioxide emission information message verified by the information verifier server, a carbon dioxide reduction information message verified by the information verifier server, and a carbon neutral cost information message verified by the information verifier server, and transmits a Green Coin reward request to a Green Coin blockchain system. The Green Coin blockchain system transmits a Green Coin reward message to the information verifier server in response to the Green Coin reward request. The availability of the blockchain-based carbon dioxide emission reduction compensation system can be improved and the occurrence of failures can be minimized.

Abstract: Polymer composite photonic crystal materials are disclosed as coatings and topcoats which have high reflection (>30%) in a specific range of the electromagnetic spectrum, such as ultraviolet (<400 nm), visible (Vis, 400 nm-700 nm), or near-infrared radiation range (NIR, 700-2000 nm), and relatively low reflection (<20% reflection) in a second, different range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Surprisingly, it was found that through a formulation and additives approach, the optical properties of polymer composite photonic crystal films can be selectively modified from a variety of different coating methods, including spray deposition.

Abstract: In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a method for the direct synthesis of complex N,N,O-trisubstituted hydroxylamines by N—O bond formation. In another aspect, the method can successfully be employed using a wide variety of commercially available alcohols and secondary amines and enables the construction of large fragment-based libraries of trisubstituted hydroxylamines for drug discovery purposes. Also disclosed are N,N,O-trisubstituted hydroxylamines having low basicity, high stability at ambient temperatures, and an inherent lack of reactivity towards acetylating and sulfonylating enzymes that confer mutagenicity on less-substituted hydroxylamines.

Abstract: The present invention relates to artificial transcription factors (ATFs) that alter gene expression, including inducing pluripotency in cells or promoting the conversion of cells to specific cell fates. Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and systems for transducing measurements from medium of interest. One non-limiting example is in planta monitoring of plants. In one aspect, a micro- or nano-scale probe body includes one or more microprobes (e.g. microneedles or waveguides) to access desired plant tissue, and one or more microsensors on the probe body. A microcircuit on or in the probe body transduces relevant measurements from the microsensor(s). An output interface allows storage, communication, or transfer of the transduced measurement for further use. Non-limiting examples are processing into estimations of chemical concentrations or the like for biochemical sensing. As such, if used as in planta sensors, they can be minimally invasive and cost effective for both single use and use in sets for plural plants with one central station.
