  • Publication number: 20230338902
Abstract: A method of making a filter, the resulting filter, and a method of using the filter to filter proteins from solution are described. The method includes contacting a porous, polymeric substrate with a transfer liquid comprising a solvent(s) and a charged polymeric solute. The transfer liquid and the polymeric substrate have a Hansen Solubility Parameter (“HSP”) distance of from about 10 to about 35. Contacting the polymeric substrate with the transfer solution causes the polymeric substrate to accept the charged polymeric solute by diffusion transfer, thereby yielding a functionalized filter medium. Removal of the transfer liquid from the polymeric substrate traps the charged polymeric solute on the surface of the polymeric substrate.

  • Publication number: 20230341744
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for generating cluster quantum states usable for quantum computing. An example system can generate a plurality of qumodes. The plurality of qumodes can include at least two successive qumodes in frequency domain, wherein a frequency spacing between two successive qumodes is equal to a free-spectral range of an optical frequency comb. The plurality of qumodes can include a plurality of bipartite entangled states. A cluster quantum state can be generated by modulating a phase of a portion of the optical fields associated with the plurality of qumodes received from the optical frequency comb, at one or more modulation frequencies. In some embodiments, each of the one or more modulation frequencies can be equal to an integral multiple of the free-spectral-range. In certain embodiments, a property of a cluster graph (such as a dimension of the cluster graph) associated with the cluster quantum state can be controlled by adjusting one or more modulation frequencies.

  • Patent number: 11793884
Abstract: Described herein, in various embodiments, are peptides comprising: (i) a cyclic cell-penetrating peptide sequence (cCPP) and (ii) a CAL-PDZ binding sequence, which is conjugated, directly or indirectly, to an N-terminus of an amino acid in the cCPP, to a C-terminus of an amino acid on the cCPP, or on a side chain of an amino acid in the cCPP. In other embodiments, the peptides further comprise a physiologically cleavable group, wherein after entering the cell, the physiologically cleavable group is reduced, thereby providing a linear peptide. Without being bound by theory, the inventors discovered that the amino acid sequence in the cCPP, which facilities cytosolic delivery of the CAL-PDZ binding sequence also, surprisingly and unexpectedly, synergistically improves binding of CAL-PDZ binding sequence to the CAL-PDZ binding domain. Additionally, the cCPP sequence may also improve selectivity of the CAL-PDZ binding sequence for the CAL-PDZ domain relative to other PDZ binding domains.

Abstract: Compositions and methods of use thereof for delivering an insecticide to water-borne insect larvae are provided. Whereas individual cells of the insecticidal bacteria such as Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti), are effective in killing insect larvae when ingested by same, their use in aqueous environments is restricted by the time that the bacterial cells remain suspended in water and hence available for ingestion by the larvae. To increase the time that the insecticidal bacteria remain in suspension, it has now been found advantageous to mix bacterial suspensions with nanoparticles comprising carbon that attach to the external surface of the cells.
