Abstract: A virtual reality system, comprising an electronic 2d interface having a depth sensor, the depth sensor allowing a user to provide input to the system to instruct the system to create a virtual 3D object in a real-world environment. The virtual 3D object is created with reference to at least one external physical object in the real-world environment, with the external physical object concurrently displayed with the virtual 3D object by the interface. The virtual 3D object is based on physical artifacts of the external physical object.

Abstract: A cutting tool adapter for creating an underpinning structure and method of creating the underpinning structure are provided. In some examples, the cutting tool adapter may connect a cutting tool to a working machine arm to enable the cutting tool to cut and dislodge soil below an existing foundation or structure. As the soil is cut and dislodged, it is mechanical mixed with an additive, such as a cementitious material, via the cutting tool. The mixed soil and additive may then harden in the area below the existing structure or foundation to create an underpinning structure to provide additional support for the existing structure or foundation.

Abstract: An on-demand disposable virtual work system that includes: a virtual machine monitor to host virtual machines, a virtual machine pool manager, a host operating system, a host program permissions list, and a request handler module. The virtual machine pool manager manages virtual machine resources. The host operating system interfaces with a user and virtual machines created with an image of a reference operating system. The host program permissions list may be a black list and/or a white list used to indicate allowable programs. The request handler module allows execution of the program if the program is allowable. If the program is not allowable, the host request handler module: denies program execution and urges a virtual machine specified by the virtual machine pool manager to execute the program. The virtual machine is terminated when the program closes.

Abstract: The luminance of a transmission mode X-ray scintillator diamond plate is dominated by induced defect centers having an excited state lifetime less than 10 msec, and in embodiments less than 1 msec, 100 usec, 10 used, 1 used, 100 nsec, or even 50 nsec, thereby providing enhanced X-ray luminance response and an X-ray flux dynamic range that is linear with X-ray flux on a log-log scale over at least three orders of magnitude. The diamond plate can be a single crystal having a dislocation density of less than 104 per square centimeter, and having surfaces that are ion milled instead of mechanically polished. The defect centers can be SiV centers induced by silicon doping during CVD diamond formation, and/or NV0 centers formed by nitrogen doping followed by applying electron beam irradiation of the diamond plate and annealing.

Abstract: Various examples of methods, systems, and apparatus are provided for monitoring using an improved mouth guard apparatus. In one example, a battery-free diagnostic mouth guard includes a biting force-voltage transducer comprising a piezoelectric film; a compact resonance tank comprising a wireless sensor; and a transmitting antenna for transmitting sensing data. A piezo-voltage from the biting force-voltage transducer can bias a varactor diode loaded on the wireless sensor whose response frequency is tuned due to a capacitance change of the varactor diode. In some implementations, an external processing equipment can wirelessly detect a frequency shift of the varactor diode integrated resonator. In another example, a method includes detecting a biting force via a biting force-voltage transducer; biasing a varactor diode with a voltage from the transducer; tuning a response frequency of a split ring resonator using a capacitance change of the varactor diode; and emitting sensing data at the response frequency.
