Abstract: The present invention relates to an antioxidant, skin-whitening and wrinkle-reducing multifunctional cosmetic composition containing a fermented rice by-product extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. By using a fermented rice by-product extract or a fraction thereof according to the present invention, the total phenolic content of a rice by-product can be increased by means of fermentation, extraction and fractionation, and a cosmetic composition showing high antioxidant capability and excellent skin-whitening and wrinkle-reducing effects can be provided.

Abstract: The disclosed method of treating a malignant solid tumor in a subject includes the steps of administering to the subject an immunomodulatory dose of a radioactive phospholipid metal chelate compound that is differentially retained within malignant solid tumor tissue, and performing in situ tumor vaccination in the subject by introducing into at least one of the malignant solid tumors one or more agents capable of stimulating specific immune cells within the tumor microenvironment, or by performing another method of in situ tumor vaccination. In a non-limiting example, the radioactive phospholipid metal chelate compound has the formula: wherein R1 comprises a chelating agent that is chelated to a metal atom, wherein the metal atom is an alpha, beta or Auger emitting metal isotope with a half life of greater than 6 hours and less than 30 days. In one such embodiment, a is 1, n is 18, m is 0, b is 1, and R2 is —N+(CH3)3.

Abstract: A geometric camera calibration system includes an extrinsic iterative closest point (ICP) device that generates an estimated extrinsic matrix by adjusting an initial extrinsic matrix according to first 3D points in camera coordinates; and an intrinsic ICP device that receives 3D points in chessboard coordinates and accordingly generates an error metric between the 3D points in chessboard coordinates and predetermined second reference 3D points. The extrinsic ICP device performs ICP operation to minimize difference between the 3D points in camera coordinates and predetermined first reference 3D points. A current intrinsic matrix is then outputted as an updated intrinsic matrix if a current error metric is not greater than a previous error metric.

Abstract: A sensor including a layer of amorphous selenium (a-Se) and at least one charge blocking layer is formed by depositing the charge blocking layer over a substrate prior to depositing the amorphous selenium, enabling the charge blocking layer to be formed at elevated temperatures. Such a process is not limited by the crystallization temperature of a-Se, resulting in the formation of an efficient charge blocking layer, which enables improved signal amplification of the resulting device. The sensor can be fabricated by forming first and second amorphous selenium layers over separate substrates, and then fusing the a-Se layers at a relatively low temperature.

Abstract: According to various embodiments, a system for forming a ceramic part includes a chamber having a first closed end and a second end defining an opening. The platform is disposed within the chamber and adapted to move vertically in a z-direction between the first closed end and the second end. An applicator is adapted to move laterally in an x-y direction. The applicator includes a beveled edge. A light source is positioned in line with the second end of the chamber. A digital micro-mirror device is positioned between the light source and the second end of the chamber. The shutter is movable between a first open position and a second open position. A first image is projected when the digital micro-mirror device is in the first open position and a second image, different than the first image is projected when the digital micro-mirror device is in the second open position.
Abstract: The amount of speed-up that can be obtained by optimizing the program to run on a different architecture is determined by static measurements of the program. Multiple such static measurements are processed by a machine learning system after being discretized to alter their accuracy vs precision. Static analysis requires less analysis overhead and permits analysis of program portions to optimize allocation of porting resources on a large program.

Abstract: Systems and methods for simultaneous multi-slice imaging. In one embodiment, a method for magnetic resonance imaging of a region of interest of a subject includes simultaneously exciting multiple, different slice locations corresponding to a region of interest of a subject using a radio-frequency (rf) pulse, for obtaining multiple slices. The excitation phase is modulated between acquisitions using a phase cycling scheme configured to create signal cancellation of all but one slice of the multiple excited slices from the different slice locations. The method also includes applying an imaging pulse sequence using a spiral k-space trajectory to acquire image data from the multiple slices, for an image or series of images of the region of interest; and reconstructing, from the multiple slices, images of the region of interest, wherein the reconstructing recovers unaliased images from the different slice locations.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of manufacturing multilayer graphene, including (a) contacting of a metal substrate with a nonmetal element, (b) reduction through heat treatment, and (c) chemical vapor deposition of a graphene precursor on the metal substrate containing the nonmetal element dissolved therein, thereby manufacturing multilayer graphene that is doped with the nonmetal element on the metal substrate. In the multilayer graphene thus manufactured, the number of graphene layers and the work function are simultaneously adjusted by controlling the concentration of doped nonmetal element in a thickness direction of graphene through interactions related to the reduction of the nonmetal element dissolved in a copper catalyst and the growth of graphene, and moreover, the stacking structure of graphene is maintained and the optoelectronic properties of multilayer graphene can be controlled by simultaneously regulating graphene growth and doping during the synthesis procedure without additional processing.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a piezoelectric fiber having excellent flexibility, the piezoelectric fiber employs a conductive fiber member as an inner electrode, on which a piezoelectric polymer layer, an outer electrode and a coating layer are sequentially formed, thereby having excellent flexibility and sufficient elasticity to be sewed, woven, knotted or braided. Therefore, the piezoelectric fiber can be applied in power supplies for a variety of sizes and types of wearable electronic devices, portable devices, clothing, etc. In addition, since the piezoelectric fiber has excellent piezoelectricity and durability because of the above-described structure, it can effectively convert deformation or vibration caused by external physical force into electric energy, and thus can replace existing ceramic-based and polymer piezoelectric bodies, etc. Furthermore, an economical and simple method of manufacturing a piezoelectric fiber having excellent piezoelectricity is provided.
