Abstract: The present invention introduces the development of a flexible CPU-AP (Computer Processing Unit-Automata Processor) computing infrastructure for mining hierarchical patterns based on Apriori algorithm. A novel automaton design strategy, called linear design, is described to generate automata for matching and counting hierarchical patterns and apply it on SPM (Sequential Pattern Mining). In addition, another novel automaton design strategy, called reduction design, is described for the disjunctive rule matching (DRM) and counting. The present invention shows performance improvement of AP SPM and DRM solutions and broader capability over multicore and GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) implementations of GSP SPM, and shows that AP SPM and DRM solutions outperform state-of-the-art SPM algorithms SPADE and PrefixSpan (especially for larger datasets).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a monolith for processing fluid samples, and methods of making and using the monolith. The monolith can contain certain monomers or combinations of monomers that can be polymerized to give a polymeric monolith that can efficiently self-wick fluid. The self-wicking polymeric monolith can be used as a convenient tool for point of care/on site diagnostics and analytics. The monolith is easily stored and transported, comparatively cost-efficient to make, permits good detection of analyte molecules and is readily functionalizable by impregnation of and/or covalently grafting additional chemical moieties to either the whole monolith or in zones.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and apparatus for decoding an image using inter-prediction. The method of decoding an image using inter-prediction includes receiving a bitstream; acquiring a portion of information indicating a motion vector of a current block to be decoded in the received bitstream, obtaining the motion vector of the current block by using the acquired information to determine the remaining information other than the portion, and generating a prediction block for the current block through inter-prediction that uses the motion vector of the current block. Therefore, it is possible to improve image decoding/encoding efficiency.
