Abstract: A fluid flow-powered generator and a method for using the same are described herein. The generator has a rotatable frame, with a first wing and a second wing. The first wing and second wing are pivotally mounted to the frame to allow the angle of attack to be adjusted. A controller is also provided to direct adjustment of the angle of attack of the first wing and the second wing in a coordinated manner while the fluid flow-powered generator is in use. In certain embodiments, the fluid flow-powered generator is operable as an oscillating generator and in other embodiments, the fluid flow-powered generator is operable as a rotating generator. The rotating generator can be arranged along a horizontal axis or a vertical axis. Additionally, certain horizontally oriented generators may be operated as either oscillating generators or rotating generators.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for recognizing a parking space line marking for a vehicle. In particular, a corner capturing process is configured to capture an angled corner in an image including the parking space line marking, and a cross capturing process is configured to capture a cross point by combining adjacent corners among the captured corners. A space capturing process captures a space which is an end periphery of the parking space line marking by combining the captured cross points. As a result of the above processes, a type selecting process can then select a type of the parking space line marking from the captured space, and a final selection process may select a final space based on the selected type.

Abstract: A process of producing ceramic-ceramic composites, including but not limited to nuclear fuels, and composites capable of exhibiting increased thermal conductivities. The process includes milling a first ceramic material to produce a powder of spheroidized particles of the first ceramic material, and then co-milling particles of a second ceramic material with the spheroidized particles of the first ceramic material to cause the particles of the second ceramic material to form a coating on the spheroidized particles of the first material. The spheroidized particles coated with the particles of the second ceramic material are then compacted and sintered to form the ceramic-ceramic composite, in which the second ceramic material forms a continuous phase completely surrounding the spheroidized particles of the first ceramic material.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed toward attenuation correction of radar data. Atmospheric attenuation is a function of atmospheric water drop size and temperature. A number of different theoretical models are available to mathematically describe the particle drop shape that influences attenuation estimation. Each of these models has proven effective in different scenarios. It can be difficult, however, to predict which theoretical model to use. The total differential phase gives an idea of the attenuation, but it depends on the model. Moreover, the total attenuation along a rain path must be apportioned to different parts of the radar path in order to correct for attenuation along a radar path. Embodiments of this invention allows for a system to apportion the attenuation to different parts of the radar beam. Embodiments of the invention also allow for optimization of a number of different theoretical models for both drop size and temperature.

Abstract: Embodiments of this invention relate to trocar site closures including a head with a plurality of arm receiving passages therethrough, an arm received by each of the passages, each passage having a discontinuity which allows each arm to be pulled inward but deters outward movement, and each arm having a grappling portion. The head and arms are inserted into a patient wound, such as a trocar site. The arms engage with tissue surrounding the wound. A pulling force is exerted on the arm proximal ends, drawing the distal ends of the arms toward the head and at least partially closing the wound. The head and at least a portion of the arms remain in the patient, and are preferably made of a biocompatible material. Embodiments of this invention also relate to an insertion device used to insert the closure into the wound and at least partially close the wound.
