  • Patent number: 4983113
Abstract: An extruder head assembly includes an extruder head having an abutment face and an internal flow channel terminating at the abutment face; first and second preforming dies and a preforming die drum removably accommodating the first and second preforming dies in a spaced relationship to one another. The drum is supported at the extruder head for rotation about an axis relative to the extruder head for selectively aligning one of the first and second preforming dies with the internal flow channel at the abutment face of the extruder head. Further, a releasable immobilizing mechanism is provided for pressing the drum against the abutment face, thereby placing the preforming die--aligned earlier with the flow channel--in an operative position.

  • Patent number: 4954067
Abstract: A hydraulic press has a press stand; a generally horizontal press plate vertically movably supported in the press stand and arranged for executing forward and return strokes; and a plurality of hydraulic press cylinder units mounted in the press stand above the press plate. Each press cylinder unit has a power cylinder and a plunger slidably received in the power cylinder and extending from the power cylinder to the press plate. There are further provided a plurality of hydrostatic bearings mounted on the press plate; and a chamber defined with each hydrostatic bearing and containing hydraulic fluid. The lower terminus of the plunger projects into the chamber. The hydrostatic bearings constitute a force-transmitting arrangement between the plungers and the press plate and permit a tilting motion of the plungers relative to the press plate. Guide assemblies are mounted at the end of each power cylinder for sealingly and tiltably guiding the plunger.

  • Patent number: 4951885
Abstract: A crusher unit is part of a mobile crushing system which may also include one or more endless conveyors, if required. The crusher unit has a substructure (1) that can be set down on the ground (14), a crusher (4), and a housing (9) for the control and supply devices that are needed. Transmission of vibrations from the crusher (4) to the housing (9) is avoided by disposing the housing (9) on a frame (8) which, in operation, is deposited on the ground (14). However, if the substructure (1) is lifted, as when the crusher unit is transported from one location to another, the frame is supported on the substructure.

  • Patent number: 4945793
Abstract: A tool coupling for connecting a tool head to a tool holder to secure the tool head against rotation and provide axial prestress. The tool head, which serves as a cutting tool, includes a shank having at least a portion which is conically configured, a threaded bore, and an annular contact collar. The tool holder includes a sleeve-shaped receiving bore corresponding to the shank, at least a portion of the receiving bore being conically configured, a tightening screw, and an annular contact face. An additional bore in the shank of the tool head ensures a prestress between the shank and the tool carrier including the receiving bore, and such prestress is not entirely relieved even if lateral forces act on the tool head. This keeps the tool head from vibrating in the receiving bore.

  • Patent number: 4921352
Abstract: A contactless optical process with which characteristics such as the type, position, deformation, and vibration spectrum, of an object can determined and/or measured. In this process, coherent light is changed by an optical medium fixed to the object. Suitable optical media, such as acousto-optical transducers or special holograms, are selected for the respective characteristics. A photosensitive receiver equipped with evaluation means determines the respective characteristics of the object from the changes in the coherent light caused by these optical media.

  • Patent number: 4912237
Abstract: A feed suspension of pentosan-containing organic raw materials in dilute sulfuric acid is passed with low residence time through a flow reactor heated by high-pressure steam to 170.degree.-230.degree. C. and then through a cooler in which it is cooled to 140.degree.-200.degree. C. before the suspension is admitted to a flash evaporating unit from which a furfural-rich vapor phase is separated from the residual suspension. Process water is recovered from the residual suspension and recycled for the preparation of the feed suspension. From the vapor phase, furfural is recovered by distillation, either directly or after liquefaction. In the latter case, partial condensation in a primary condenser can be used to increase the furfural concentration in the final condenser, the condensate of the primary condenser being recycled for the preparation of the feed suspension.

  • Patent number: 4909303
Abstract: A steel manufacturing system such as a mini-steel plant includes a series of treatment stations, one of which is a furnace which preferably receives scrap as the starting material. In order to significantly reduce the volume of the buildings needed for the steel manufacturing system, and thus the investment costs, the treatment stations are arranged in a furnace hall whose cross section is substantially adapted to the components of the treatment stations. With respect to the flow of material and the centers of the stations, each treatment stations is disposed along a straight line with an adjacent station. The steel manufacturing system also includes a continuous caster which is disposed in a casting hall and which receives molten steel from the furnace hall.

  • Patent number: 4906294
Abstract: A cutting bit (1) has a bottom side (2), flanks (3) that are inclined at a positive clearance angle (.alpha.) with respect to the bottom side (2), and a top side (7). The top side (7) has cutting edges (5 and 5') which are inclined with respect to one another at an angle of inclination (.lambda.). The cutting bit is made by sintering a blank which is formed using a pressing tool (10). The pressing tool includes a mold member (11), an upper die (12), and a lower die (13). The upper die (12) has a pressure face (20) which corresponds precisely, except for an allowance for the shrinkage ratio of the sinter material, to the actual surface of the upper side of the cutting bit (1). When the upper die (12) is fully inserted into the mold (11), a free space (31) exists between the upper die (12) and the mold member (11), the free space being disposed above the delimiting line (21) of pressure face (20) of the upper die (12).

  • Patent number: 4898990
Abstract: A process for the extraction of vanillin by means of the extraction from a vanillin-containing, water-containing, liquid mixture of substances with carbon dioxide at a temperature of 0.degree. to 110.degree. C. as well as a pressure of 30 to 400 bar and a subsequent separation of vanillin is described. • Patent number: 4885530
Abstract: A device for the early detection of breaks and/or marginal wear in the cutting edge in machine tools equipped with reversible cutting plates having at least one insulated conductor path embedded in their cutting edge, with the conductor path being in communication with a voltage source and forming part of a circuit for actuating a signal to break off a machining process. The conductor path is part of an alternating circuit which is connected with the voltage source without physical contact. An induction coil disposed in the tool is able to induce a current in a circuit closed within the cutting plate itself and this current is measured by a measuring coil disposed in the tool. In some embodiments, insulated conductor paths in the reversible cutting plate are capacitively coupled with the voltage source without contacting it.
